I wish people in society knew to utilize their dedicated and knowledgeable community pharmacists who can distinguish between what symptoms can be self-treated with over-the-counter medications and what requires the attention of a physician. Patients like you described seem to only further burden the health care system (and take attention away from patients who REALLY need it) with unnecessary emergency room/urgent care visits. Bottom line — your local pharmacist is definitely more reliable than diagnosing yourself on the internet. Plus, some pharmacies are open 24/7!

A valuable viewpoint from a future pharmacist (phuture farmacist?) regarding my recent post about people who don’t do anything before coming to the doctor for basic cold-and-flu symptoms. A good pharmacist is an invaluable resource to patients and doctors alike!
(And a bad pharmacist, like a bad doctor or a bad anybody-in-healthcare, is a dangerous waste of space.) :)
