I finally got round to Jailbreaking my Kindle last night. Didn’t do anything too fancy - no custom fonts, no SSH, no super new Firmware [there’s a firmware upgrade that’ll allow the Kindle to read .epub files, but it seems somewhat unstable. And totally not supported by Amazon, in the event that it ‘bricks’ your device.], but I did then install the custom Screensavers hack.
Only copied over a few initial files, to test that it worked, and seeing as it did, I’ll have to have a mooch round the internet for some good pics.
Until then, I went for one of the two obvious geek choices, when customising a Kindle:
- Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
- Star Trek LCARS / PADD Graphics.
Ended up going for a mixture of LCARS graphics, and a Doctor Who pic [Amy / 11 in the Tardis].
