The National“Don’t Swallow the Cap” by The National // Trouble Will Find Me (Out 5.21.13 via 4AD)
The National are one of the best bands in the world. It seems like an easy fact to process in my brain at this point. I cannot remember ever being disappointed in the band’s creative output, live shows, or general all around solid vibe. “Trouble Will Find Me” is set to drop in a little over a month, but the band was good enough to release a second single today over at Youtube, for the track “Don’t Swallow the Cap”. Once again, the song finds the band pushing a driving beat as orchestral flourishes swell up around Matt Berninger’s soulful croon. It’s familiar territory, but it’s also a sound that the band does better than everyone else. A melancholic confessional that somehow leaves you feeling oddly triumphant in your normalcy. Berninger is a brilliant lyricist and it’s on full display here. Just press play. It’s a stunning track.
Flood
Mind Not The Timid“Flood” by Mind Not the Timid // Beacons (2013)
Nashville based chamber pop act, Mind Not the Timid, is slated to release their debut album, “Beacon”, later this year. “Flood” is the gorgeous first single, and it’s available now at Bandcamp. The lovely, melancholic baroque pop sound is immediately satisfying. Growing and building into a widescreen, cinematic sing-a-long that explodes with strings, horns, and a booming chorus. Think about Youth Lagoon’s latest crossed with a little Beirut and “Illinoise”-era Sufjan Stevens, and you’re almost there. It’s a pretty impressive sound for such a young band. Highly recommended.
Cold Season
The Age of Rockets - “Cold Season”
First Single to The final album as Age of Rockets. It’s been an extremely sexual dark and magical ride. I’ve made aural and literal love to each and every one of you. That’s right you didn’t know it but we’ve had consensual american sex. But now it’s time to clip the binder of life closed again. I can’t possibly top a 3 disc concept record like this and Age of Rockets only works when it’s getting bigger and bigger. It wouldn’t feel right to make another album and have it be scaled back.
If you want to download this now either wait a while till now is much later or go back in time 1000 years and donate to the kickstarter. Backers will get this and the majority of disc 2 this week. BOOM

내꺼하자 / Be Mine (Remix Ver.)
인피니트 / Infinitealthough the original version of Be Mine is pretty cool, retro sound and all, the remix version boasts a string orchestra for epic instrumentals. the strings add a slightly more desperate note. “be mine!”
