I spent my afternoon at the Gusman Theater yesterday, for the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and Alhambra Orchestra’s annual “Spooky Symphony” - and whenever I’m there, I just drink it in.

From the mezzanine, before it began: 

The ceiling is full of pinprick lights like stars, and blue and white lighting and fog like clouds. It actually confused my 8 year old, Isaac. It’s just awesome.

My daughters, “The Queen of the Ladybugs” (getting popcorn) and the Reluctant Masquerade Goer - she’s 12, and I think the only reasons she put on this (AWESOME, velvet) dress was because of how her new chest length feathery black earrings would go with the ensemble.

This is one of those historic Miami places that always seems about a month from losing all it’s funding and going under.
