[ii] Everyone watched from the windows as Tix stood shaking in the duck pond.

‘Don’t touch her!’ Rae couldn’t help but shout, though she wouldn’t be heard up there.

Rae knew as well as all the staff that Tix hated it. It didn’t stop them from trying. The doctor falling into the pond before he could reach Tix would have been comical any other day but the following scream made Rae’s ears hurt worse than any radio feedback.

What was he thinking just clambering in like that? He deserved to breathe in the duck shite.

And what had drawn her into the middle of the pond in the first place?

Rae’s chest constricted. Oh god, Tix.
