people who say no offense to every offensive thing they say

“Self-importance is our greatest enemy. Think about it: what weakens us is feeling offended by the deeds and misdeeds of our fellow men. Our self-importance requires that we spend most of our lives offended by someone.”

—Castaneda

“What you react to in others, you strengthen in yourself.”

—Eckhart Tolle

“Let's make one thing clear: I'm not talking about offense. Someone takes a shit on the rug, that's offensive. What I'm talking about is oppression. It starts small and grows into something big. Slurs, invalidation, erasure, discrimination, murder, genocide. It doesn't matter if I'm calling out the big things or the little things; they all have the same end result. And it has nothing to do with offense.”

Pro-tip: if someone says they're offended by your rape joke DON'T sit there and defend all rape jokes. Fucking apologize and learn from your mistake because there's a big chance that you triggered a memory from the most horrific experience that person had.

Happened to me today, no joke.

“Offense is like a pair of sunglasses. Life will always be viewed through dark lenses until you remove the offense.”
