spending time with grandma

That awkward moment when someone is speaking O’odham and everyone laughs at their joke but you, cause you don’t understand the language. #oopsie. Thaaaat’s what happens when you don’t grow up on the reservation.

Frybread Powers ACTIVATE!!!

Lol
So last night I got like two hours of sleep.
I had been asked to do a presentation to two classes of youth at a school in Phoenix.
One group of 7th graders and one of 8th about the O’odham and Huhukam.
I was totally expecting then to be jerks and disrespectful lol
mainly because that’s how I was at that age.

It turned out to be an insanely awesome day.
Those kids were so curious and adorable.
We ran out of time twice because they wanted to know more and more.
My bfffff and I were supposed to chill because I was told I’d be there for an hour.
I ended up asking her to come and the kids fell in love with her lol.
I think they were super excited to have Miss Indian Arizona there.

One of the kids was super cute, we passed him as we were leaving
and he peeked out of his classroom and said “sorry for asking so many questions!”
Lol it was an awesome day and an amazing chance to inform them about
Native Americans and they were surprised that the textbooks were so misinformed.

It was just an amazing opportunity ^.^.

Mama Je'e

Mama Je’e

Originating from a little boy who claimed that Anna Nicole Smith was his mother, and seen by me multiple times on the blog dlisted.com. The word “Je’e” means “Mother” in some weird fucked up language called O’odham (apparently a Native American tongue), and was the term of affection that this child used when talking about ANS. It caught on in the blogosphere and is used to describe Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith, and pretty much any celebrity train wreck mother.

“Mama je’e went to heaven, mo’okwad,” Soto gently informs his son. “Mama je’e watches us from the sky. Like Peanut,” he says, referring to a family dog attacked and eaten by a pack of coyotes months back.

I always look forward to seeing s:veg do:ag [Red Mountain] after long trips..

Shows me that I made it home safely! But at night coming south bound on the 101, you can’t see it.. Guess the only way to tell I’m home is to look for the resort. Talking Stick!! The beacon in the night!

I’M BACK! :D

Elouise Cobell

It makes me kind of sad/sick
When I hear that some tribal members
And even some of my own family
Are getting/trying to get a piece of the payout.
Like they don’t even know what the whole things about. They just shat on a monumental moment in Indian Country
Because its just another check for them.
Bet none of then even knows what that amazing woman did.

Rant over
