Northeastern students speak out against Chick-fil-A on campus
articles.boston.comWhen school officials started planning to bring a Chick-fil-A restaurant to Northeastern University, students spoke up, and their voices made a difference.
The student senate passed a resolution announcing that student government did not support a Chick-fil-A on campus, primarily because of the fast-food chain’s history of donating to anti-gay organizations. Students also gathered signatures on a petition asking that Chick-fil-A not come to Northeastern.
“Based on the outcome of Monday night’s senate resolution, Chick-fil—A will not be part of the group of vendors considered for the renovation of the student center,” Northeastern said in a statement.
“We are proud of the decision that affirms our university’s commitment to be an inclusive, diverse community that is respectful of all,” college spokeswoman Renata Nyul said in another statement.
So, so cool. People like these students make me so confident that things are getting better every single day. Right on.
