The quest for beautiful.

I picked a bud from the vase of flowers that sits on my desk today and buried my nose in it. Buried it so deep and for so long that when I came up for air the tip of my nose had taken on the sticky yellow hue of the pistil.

What the hell are you doing, someone asked.

I need more beautiful, I said. I need more beautiful and less ugly and we all do and we need it now. An abundance of beautiful so prevalent that it steals all of the oxygen from the ugly and kills it off for good, forever, for all of eternity.

And then I wiped my yellow nose with a tissue, dried a few tears, and went about the rest of my day, in my endless quest for beautiful.
