jimtunney.comIt is common knowledge that professional football players use their helmets (and heads) to drive, hit, block, tackle and hit other players during the game. This week, the National Football leaguer Players Association (NFLPA) agreed to begin an investigation into the use (or non-use) of a helmet in tackling or hitting whether intentional or unintentional.
This player habit has already been reviewed by the NFL and the league has implemented rules for preventing injuries, yet numerous injuries and concussions continue each week.
Referee Jim Tunney noticed this practice of players hitting other players with their helmets during the years that he worked as a referee. His role was to always protect the players from this type of impact and especially as the referee stands behind the offensive line, the quarterback.
You’ll hear referee Jim Tunney in the clip talk about how players were taught to hit and tackle with their shoulders not with their heads. In the ‘old days, players had leath
NFL Labor talks
Ok, so for anyone who may not know, I fucking love football. I live and breath Ravens and Chiefs ball. If you don’t think anyone is allowed to have two teams, fine, w/e, but I support both more than anyone else supports any one team.
Watching the labor talks… not happen… over the last few months was not what I would have liked, but everyone knew it wasn’t going to happen any other way. The CBA has never not been agreed upon at the last second.
At this time two weeks ago, I started to actually get worried. However, when the mediation started, I knew there was nothing to worry about. Whether or not there is a contract within the next few days, I think we can bet that there will be football very soon. There would be no use extending the old CBA by a day week if the two sides weren’t imminently close to a deal.
As for where I stand, I am on the “owners’ side” for most issues, like a rookie wage scale and less money going to the players, but I am adamantly opposed to any sort of 18-game schedule.
By the time I started this my football seasons were already over, but I’ll try and throw in some commentary throughout the offseason.

Who Won the NFL Lockout?
cnbc.comCNBC’s Darren Rovell breaks down who won the NFL Lockout. In his eyes, it’s clear cut. “It’s easy to argue that the players shouldn’t have signed it this time around,” Rovell writes.
Coming Soon: Football?
First of all. Massive Credit to Mike S. for creating this prop: http://www.propcorn.com/prop/240/the-nfl-lockout-will-end-before-july-25-less-than-before-more-than-after/
Right now it looks like before, but there’s still a chance it won’t be officially ended until the Players re-certify as a union……..
In any case, this Prop is still very much alive, but getting closer to being decided. Which is good news for everybody (although those of you that chose “more than” aka “after” presumably would be ok for it to be settled in 5 days…..)
