NEW PTX SHOW: Pentatonix will be performing with the Mobile (Alabama) Symphony Orchestra Dec 14-15

According to Alabama News Source AL.com

The season will get a sprinkle of reality stardom when Pentatonix, winners of the third season of  NBC’s vocal competition “The Sing-Off,” take the Saenger stage at December’s “Holiday Harmonies” concert.

“We’re the first orchestra in the country that’s hired them and we’re having arrangements made to accompany them,” Speck said. “But of course the’re also an a capella group, so they’re going to be performing quite a bit in their own style by themselves.”

…Speck said the program for “Holiday Harmonies” is still in development, but audiences can rest assured that show will include plenty of beloved seasonal standards and some surprises.

“They’ll be singing mostly traditional holiday songs,” Speck said of Pentatonix, which recently released a collection of holiday hits called “Ptxmas.” “We may ask them to do more as well.”

We’ll let you know when tickets go on sale — sounds like an incredible show!

THE FDA's SCHEME TO RECLASSIFY NUTRIENTS AS DRUGS

The FDA and Senator Durbin’s latest attack against the dietary supplement industry should leave consumers for natural health options at affordable prices up in arms. This attack will target some of the most popular and effective dietary supplements, removing them from the free market and placing them under control of large pharmaceutical companies. This move will drastically drive up the price of dietary supplements while severely limiting access to extremely safe and effective nutrients.

Measuring the Success of a News Release - Most Important Press Release Stats

Due to the nature of the industry, public relations efforts can be difficult to quantify to clients. Because of this, justifying return on investment (ROI) for PR tools such as news releases can be tricky, and depending on the purpose of the release, reporting may vary drastically. It is important to measure PR programs against specific goals, which makes public relations reporting even more difficult.

The Man Behind The Boards - Dame Grease

Meet Harlem Bred, Platinum Producer Dame Grease [The Movement Man]… The man behind many great hits such as “Get At me Dog”, “Will Always Love Big Poppa” ,”It’s Dark & Hell Is Hot” and many more. a couple of weeks ago on BET’s 106 & park DMX premiered his video ‘Last Hope’ . It was a good day for Hip Hop, twitter was buzzin and X became a trending topic in no time. A few hours later BET showed the awards and once again DMX was the highlight as he performed along side Swizz Beats. It’s always a great look when you can come back home from a long trip. Dame Grease has traveled a long road himself, bringing good music to the industry, and now that DMX is about to re-embarked in a successful career , Grease is on top of the list of producers X has come back home to. Both men have been working very hard in the studios and it shows as DMX been releasing music since the first day home from jail. Grease will be executive producing the new DMX album.. would this be another classic of It’s Dark and Hell is Hot and infused Grease production?. Grease thinks so. Dame Grease is the man behind the boards who remains humble but don’t misinterpret that for being quiet, he’s been rumblin’ the jungle, lacing Kreayshawn, Curren$y , Jae Millz and Lil Wayne with some heat. To top off the New Year Grease is providing his new indie short “HC The Movie” with the music score. A comedy he created with his long time friend Big Stan. Grease will also be lending his production skills to a TV network, the new venture is still in progress but will be revealed very soon. Even though Grease is notable for the WAVE sound providing Max B and French Montana, with numerous hits, we would like to introduce to you why he is the Movement Man click here

“Hello All, I have just been informed that although the BC Press Council received over 100 complaints over this single incident they have refused to review the complaints. This is unacceptable. If this publication was about any other group, there would be immediate action taken by them to denounce the publication. The BC Press Council is self regulating insofar as it is comprised of editors and publishers within the print media industry so I am not surprised about their refusal to discipline one of their own members. Glacier Media group, the parent company of the Nanaimo Daily News, publishes dozens of community papers in BC and beyond and as such controls much power of print media. As we have seen, the Glacier Media CEO fully supports Mark McDonald in his actions and conduct and does not accept responsibility for printing hate-speech against Indigenous peoples. Indigenous peoples have little recourse compared to other victims of genocide when dealing with hate speech but I believe that we must test the system in order to reveal how strongly systemic racism exists in the fabric of this society and so I will be initiating a BC Human Rights Council complaint against the Nanaimo Daily News, Glacier Media, and the BC Press Council. This action may or may not be successful due to the ambient acceptable level of racism towards Indigenous peoples in this society but it is nonetheless important to undertake so that we can reveal just how serious the issue of reconciliation is to this society, these companies, this province, and if need be the country if canada. I ask that you support this action and I will provide further updates as this action moves forward. T'oyaxsut 'nuun, Ian Caplette, Tsimshian Nation.”

Ecosia hits $300,000 mark

Users nearly double total donation sum to WWF in five months

It’s happened!

Ecosia crossed the landmark $300,000 total donation threshold today – just 17 months after starting up.

We’ve had a recent donation surge, which looks to be largely a result of EcoLink, Ecosia’s newly-released affiliate link feature that redirects a portion of revenue from web purchases back to the environment.  As always, Ecosia forwards at least 80 percent of its search and EcoLink revenue to a rainforest protection program run by WWF.

Press Release - CrowdFanatic set to slay the Dragons

Vancouver-based, CrowdFanatic scores an exclusive invitation to present its online confrontation platform on Dragons Den.

VANCOUVER, BC - April 4, 2011 – The producers liked what they saw at the Vancouver auditions and want CrowdFanatic to present its online platform on CBC in Toronto. The Vancouver startup is setting the stage to put on a show in the Dragons’ Den and be one of the ventures to represent Vancouver’s Tech community.

Gearing up to launch in the coming weeks, CrowdFanatic (Vancouver, BC and Sunnyvale, CA ) is a revolutionary social media platform that defines a new genre of online services. The team at CrowdFanatic calls it an “Online Confrontation platform” - a global, group-oriented arena that confronts directly rival groups with each other. The place for group members and social activists to support their group, oppose their rivals and shift the public opinion to their side.

It has been called the wild child of the social media realm for a reason. Dealing with the most explosive topics on the news and confronting deliberately rival groups with each other the founder and CEO Yaron Bazaz promises to create the hottest social media environment on the internet.

“It isn’t about me and my friends. For that we have Facebook, our platform is all about me as a group member fighting for my political party, sports club or favourite American Idol against the group’s rivals to win on the streets and on the social media battlefield. It is a competitive environment, very emotional and extremely engaging.” says Bazaz.

Crowdfanatic’s team believe they identified a huge gap in today’s social media offering. According to the founder, today’s social media platforms are focused on the individual and do not realistically reflect our group identities. Moreover - Facebook groups and fan sites are isolated islands that only serve the group’s supporters. “There is no online arena or online battlefield that enables the Conservatives to confront directly with the Liberals or the Canucks fans to openly challenge the Red Wings. That is exactly what we are - the global confrontation arena.” says Yaron.
The events in the Middle East seem to emphasise the need for such a group oriented platform that focuses on the fight for the public opinions, and the linkage between social media and street.

The dragons will have an opportunity to invest early in the “first online confrontation platform” and to partner with the team from Vancouver to become one of the leading social media platforms of the coming years.

GTA REALTORS® Release Mid-Month Resale Housing Figures

February 19, 2013 — Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported 2,823 sales through the TorontoMLS system during the first 14 days of February.  This result represented a decline of 8.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2012.

“The number of transactions was lower for most home types in comparison to last year, but so too was the number of new listings.  This means that market conditions remained quite tight, especially for low-rise home types.  The result was continued price growth over last year,” said Toronto Real Estate Board President Ann Hannah.

The average selling price for TorontoMLS transactions in the first half of February was $509,061 – up by four per cent in comparison to the same time last year.

“The annual rate of price growth so far in February has been in line with expectations for 2013.  The average selling price in the GTA will continue to grow this year but at a slower pace compared to 2012.  The basis of this price growth will be the low-rise segment of the market, for which months of inventory and therefore choice for buyers remains very low,” said Jason Mercer, TREB’s Senior Manager of Market Analysis.

Announcing RocketSTEM

RocketSTEM is a brand new non-profit foundation for promoting Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) education. Our first project is the startup of a monthly digital magazine centered on providing content geared towards teachers, students and parents as well. The publication will mix in space history – past, present and future – along with interviews, career paths, astronomy lessons, a sprinkling of aerospace news, museum features, NASA tech spinoffs, puzzles, games, quizzes, lesson plans and other educational resources, along with easy-to-follow explanations of the mathematics and physics of all things to do with aerospace and space travel. And that is just for starters.

Our goals basically revolve around a) inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and astronauts; b) keeping educators informed on space developments and helping them better work STEM lessons into their classrooms; c) raising awareness of the benefits of space exploration; along with two ‘lessor’ goals d) encouraging international cooperation in space exploration.

The inaugural issue is slated to be out as early as late-December, with a couple months between the next one in order to obtain feedback from educators and the public. The plan is to go to a monthly publication by August 2013.
