So, I’ve been going around school promoting BSU like crazy..

Well, not like crazy. 

But I mention it to as many black people as I can find, hahah, and all of their friends.

So there should be some new names a-floatin’ around after they sign up :D

Soul Coughing's name is officially being changed to Vinyl Sea.

This has been a tough journey. Saying farewell to the name that was Soul Coughing was very difficult, to say the least. It was like saying goodbye to a child and then having the difficulty of suddenly naming another. In other words, IT WAS A BIG DEAL. 

But, as I described on Soul Coughing itself, it was necessary: “The name Soul Coughing has served this blog so well for the past year and a half. It has forever described in the most perfect ways how I feel about music and the passion that I put into this blog. My words are, quite literally, the product of my soul coughing. Never will they be used in insincere ways. Combining them — and the other thing that often speaks to my soul (aka music) — will forever be the love of my life. 

So why, you may be asking, would I want to replace something that fit so perfectly?

Because Soul Coughing is not uniquely mine, I feel that I can no longer claim it. Obviously, I’ve known for quite some time that Soul Coughing was not my own invention. But now I feel like this blog needs my own invention at the head of it. It’s entirely mine. Who I am runs through it in every way. I cannot go on without its title changing.”

So guys, this is the end whether I like it or not. But I hope the new name will provide me with rebirth and make this blog even more my own. That’s what I want, after all! My lovely best friend Ash is brainstorming on a new header as we speak! (Also a heartbreak for me, because I loved the new-old header so much!! But I know she will make another that is just as wonderful, and just as ‘me’).

But anyway. Here’s to new things for this project of mine. :)

Change of names (updated)

Former name: Cherry Blossom (lol)
New name: Chérie Lescot
Meaning of given name: Precious one, darling
Birthplace: Lyon, France
Why the new name: She needed a new name. I named her when I was in love with Japan and the whole cherry blossom festival. Her new name shows how she grew up. She was an only child, very loved by her parents. She was their cheri. She’s one of the two who does name take the name “Potentia.” That’s because she’s Kent’s wife and she can do whatever the fuck she wants.

Former name: Jordan Nakamura
New name: Jin-ho (changes name to Jay Potentia)
Meaning of given name: Golden hero/leader (Victory)
Birthplace: Pyongyang, North Korea.
Why the new name: Once again, needed one. The whole weeaboo-phase made me put my characters through a lot of torture. Jay’s original surname is something he keeps to himself. He never mentions it, ever. He successfully fled North Korea after 20 years of torture and came to Seoul. After a lot of soulsearching, a bit of education and a lot of help, he met Kent. Kent met with Jin-ho several times before sending Jin-ho a letter about information to come live with Kent. Since Jin-ho had always been interested in the hindu religion, he took the name Jay, meaning Victory. He later took the Potentia surname, since he had to have one for legal reasons, and most of the “youngsters” take the Potentia surname.

Former name: Celestial Angelus
New name: Célestin Lescot
Meaning of given name: Heavenly (has absolutely nothing to do with personality)
Birthplace: Unknown, however found in an orphanage in Sweden. Believed to have french origin.
Why the new name: There was nothing particularly wrong with the name Celestial, but Célestin was a more hm… real name? Lescot is after Chérie. Chérie thought, and still thinks, Célestin is her “golden boy”, her favourite. This is since all of the other “youngsters” (Michael, Wesley, Dawn and Jay) came when they were adults, whereas Célestin joined them when he was only 14. Chérie raised him and therefore calls Célestin hers.
The last thing Célestin real mother did before handing him over to the orphanage was to name him. So that’s why he’s got a french name.

Former name: Dawn Linda/Sara (sweet jesus I can’t remember) Potentia
New name: Dahlia “Dolly” Andersen (but changes her name to Dawn Potentia)
Meaning of first name: It’s a flower.
Birthplace: Not important, but southern Sweden. (yep, yep I did.)
Why the new name: The story with her is that she got adopted as a baby by a Swedish family (Putting my Swedes in the story since it’s a great county and I know shitton about it) and she can’t of course keep her original name if she got adopted. I don’t even remember what I used to call her in the original stories lol. Dawn is the name Kent gives her, and Potentia is the name used by every member except Cherie and Célestin.

Former name: Kent Matthew Potentia
New name: Kent Potentia
Meaning of first name: Born of fire
Birthplace: Unknown to everybody but himself. Thought to have some foreign (as in not Swedish) blood in himself.
Why the new name: Nothing special, just doing the whole given name + Potentia. His real name is classified.

Former name: Mike Silver
New name: Michael Potentia
Meaning of first name: Idk man.
Birthplace: New York, USA
Why the new name: Once again nothing special. Just changed his story a lot, and he still gets called “Mike” by Wesley.

Former name: Wesley Theodore Edwin
New name: Wesley Potentia
Meaning of first name: Western meadow
Birthplace: London, UK
Why the new name: Not much of a change. His middle name Theodore hasn’t technically disappeared. The thing is, while joining Kent you get a given name + Potentia. This means Wesley can’t use his middle name, but Michael knows about it and tends to call Wesley “Teddy.” (this becomes quite awkward to outsiders since it makes them think there might be something between Michael and Wesley)

New characters introduced:

Abraham: Black labrador bought to make Dawn feel easy.

Maxwell: Called Maxie by his closest. Kent and Chérie’s son.

Sir John Tremaine: Lawyer and blueblood. Used as an insider in the aristocracy. Also the boss over the lawyers who make sure Kent’s “messes” go away.

Nicholas: Chauffeur and mechanic.

Sam: Second chauffeur. Opens doors.
