Special Welcome

I’d like to take this time to thank everyone who has been following and contributing to Here Be Monsters. It’s you guys making it as fun, educational, and thought provoking as it is. I did not expect this to gain the momentum it has. Now that it’s rolling, I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. We’re going to steamroll into 2012 with the same intensity and passion.

So, with that in mind I would like to formally welcome two new contributors to the Here Be Monsters team. Isaac S (Izzie Dead) and Sarah Y. (lonersarah). You may Recognize Izzie from some of my posts. He and I have some fascinating banter and I sometimes post those for you to enjoy. Sarah is an equally fascinating person, with the cutest personality. They both have sharp minds and sharp wit and unique looks at how the world works. I can’t wait to see what they are going to be posting about soon.

I hope everyone had a great holiday, be it Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Festivus, etc.

I hope you all have a wonderful new year!

BIG NEWS: Two new contributors –poetry and prose reviews

As of today, we are very honored that John from The Span of Life and Roger -who am I kidding?, Roggy) from Roggy’s Canvas will be joining the Tumblr Writers Community Directory.

Roggy will review/critique/analyze/andwhatnot your prose pieces.

John will be doing the same for poetry pieces.

Start sending your submissions in, we’ll be using the same protocol as with Jordan’s blog reviews, first come-first served.

You’ll need to use the submission box in order to send the link of the piece you want to have reviewed. Link to your piece, not your blog, please.

I’ll soon be posting a sort of bios from both our new contributors so you can get to know them better.

Thank you for all the support,

Anna and the TWD Team.

Welcome to Our New Contributors

  Written by: Ben

We have two new contributors to welcome to the blog, two good friends of mine with great movie knowledge and opinions ready to entertain and inform you guys. They have written up their bios which are now posted along with mine on the “About” page, but I thought I’d give them an introduction post as well. Let’s get right into the introductions.

First new contributor is Garrett Coats

Garrett is one of my best friends and a man I am proud to call my homo-amigo (trademark on that is pending :P) We’ve been friends for about 3 years, ever since we were roommates during his Freshman and my Sophomore year at UNT. We hit it off thanks to our mutual love of movies, and for the most part, the same movies, with a few minor disagreements and slightly varied ratings on films. Garrett’s main movie knowledge base, as opposed to my own, is horror films, and he’ll be able to provide some varied opinions and insight I could not. He has lived in the Austin area his whole life, and as you may know, I just moved to the city myself so Garrett has also been kind enough to be something of a tour guide for me as well. We see a lot of movies together but will trade off reviewing duties for those movies we see together, maybe adding a bit of our input to each other’s reviews, especially if we disagree on things.

Garrett’s first review (admittedly a little late) will be up in just a little bit, its the review of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and its a good start to contributing to the site.

Next up is Sienna Perez

Sienna is someone I’ve known since Sophomore year of High School, though she was a bit more ahead. We met in my second year of Broadcast Journalism class where we worked side by side to produce segments and a full show of informative and educating news for the school. We kept in contact thanks to the wonder of Facebook as Sienna has now moved out west for school and is now living and working in LA. She has a great sense of humor as well as good and strong opinions of movies that will be great to have added to the mix of the site. Sienna, while able to provide the “female perspective” to the site is much more diverse in her love of film then that, also being a big fan of action adventure movies. She even had her tickets to The Dark Knight Rises before me, and her knowledge and love of movies will be a great addition to the team.

Sienna doesn’t have any articles pending this week to get you excited for, but she is currently planned to be the one reviewing Amazing Spider-Man for us next week, so keep an eye out for that.

And that’s all the new people for now, keep your eye’s peeled for their contributions in the future.
