While researching for my paper on WWII art looting I am becoming annoyed with modern views.

The views I am talking about are returning the stolen items to the ancestors of the original owner at the time the paintings were stolen. I think the museums should keep the paintings and add a plaque to them acknowledging the original owner. I say this because the families have no sentimental bond to the paintings and will sell them to the highest bidder.

In April 2004 the Utah Museum of Fine Arts found out their painting Les Amoureux Jeunes by Francois Boucher was stolen in 1938 from Andre Seligmann. UMFA agreed to give the painting to Seligmann’s daughter. Two months later she sold it at Christies.
