Gotta Have Art
The National Art Education Association is an organization that promotes visual art education in schools. On the organization’s website, you can find information on the importance of art education as well as groups that parents and students can get involved in. One of these groups is the National Art Honor Society. This is a club run by students, that stresses the importance of service through art. I am personally associated with this club because I was the president of it my senior year. One of the service opportunities that we were very involved in was going down to a local parish school after school hours and doing art projects with the children who were there after school. The art program had been cut from their school, so we helped them to experience art, even though it was not a part of their curriculum. I think that the National Art Education Association is very important because it fights for the children who may end up being the next Van Gogh or Picasso by keeping art programs in their schools. I think that it is very important that this organization continues to run and keep art in students lives. Art is a way to escape from the stresses of school work, and what student doesn’t need to relieve stress?
