Billy— Quills-verse

17. Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress

Comfort, comfort, comfort— It defines Billy’s preferences. The comfiest clothes are loose ones, so nearly everything he owns is just a little too big for him. Hoodies are his favorite thing ever, they are like the epitome of everything he finds comfortable; plus he gets cold easily, so they serve a double purpose. Billy’s been known to wear hoodies even near mid-summer, and when asked— usually by Tommy— “Aren’t you suffocating?!” The answer is always a dry, “No.” 

He will wear shorts if it gets too hot, but they tend to be on the long side, almost capris. And also, he loves flip-flops; they are the most comfortable footwear ever, PERIOD. He lives for those short summer months when he can get away with wearing them all day, everyday, everywhere.

He’s not big on brand or fashion name clothes, but he does try to be a conscientious shopper and avoid sweatshop manufacturers if he can. Billy actually buys a lot of stuff from thrift shops, mostly cool licensed apparel that he can find at better pricing there.

As for his dressing ritual .  .  . His clothes live everywhere except his drawers and closet. Therefore dressing himself consists of picking up something, making sure it doesn’t smell, and pulling it on. He makes half an effort at matching, but you can tell which days he didn’t give enough of a damn. 

20. Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?

When he was about six, Billy got a very bad case of bronchitis and was hospitalized. He doesn’t remember everything, but he remembers his mother and Bubbe Sue alternating days with him, and his father stayed every night, reading to him about the adventures of Thor and Loki until he fell asleep. 

27. What is their biggest regret?

In Quills … REALLY LYS, OF COURSE YOU WOULD ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS. I have not written this yet— Billy will regret not standing by Teddy and supporting his need to face his heritage … . that’s all I’m gonna say. D<

2. Do they have any daily rituals?

Things have changed so much so soon for Teddy. His daily ritual used to be plain and simple and … repetitive. 

He would get up with the sun and feed the little stray cat who hung out on his fire escape. Next up, a jog around the neighborhood in all but the coldest weather— in which case he’d jog the stairs of his apartment building. A nice long shower before breakfast, and then he’d set about cleaning just to pass some time.

He has a cookbook that belonged to his mother, one of the only surviving possessions from the fire that took her life, and he’s made it his goal to cook a recipe from it each day he is home. If he can, he goes down to the farmer’s market to get the freshest ingredients he can and takes his sweet time to prepare everything, maybe putting on a little music while he puts the meal together.

A table set for one, and a little light reading would conclude his day, unless he received an invite from Greg for a couple beers at their engine’s favorite bar. But that had become a hassle more often then not when he was forced to brush off his buddies’ attempts to find a date to go home with him. 

When Bee came into his life— He sort of turned everything upside down in the best of ways. Wednesday still scratched at the window for food at ungodly hours, but suddenly, hers wasn’t the only company he had to look forward to in the morning. His morning jog  was shortened to accommodate enough time to get to the station and meet Bee as he gets off work. Solo breakfast at home, became the usual order at Joe’s diner every morning. Cleaning actually took effort the more time Billy spent at his apartment, and suddenly he had company when traveling to the farmer’s market to get his ingredients for his daily recipe.

He still has to cook dinner himself— Bee can’t be trusted with anything more difficult than chopping, measuring or boiling— but setting the table for two … that is a ritual he never wants to end. 

5. Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)

Teddy likes things orderly and neat. It’s just become a habit after so many years Firefighting, and the mandatory need to keep the station in order. He cleans daily, and it makes him twitch a little to see how quickly Billy can produce spontaneous messes. 

He’s the type of person who uses a cup and washes it right away.  He’ll pull off his clothes and place them in the hamper. He takes the garbage out daily. He’ll sweep, mop and dust at least twice a week. He moves the furniture to clean under it— something that absolutely appalls Billy because why would you do that if no one is ever going to see under there?? 

Their first big point of contention as a couple, is Billy’s inability to clean up after himself. Teddy visited Billy’s apartment exactly once— he couldn’t handle it. 

21.  Turn-ons? Turn-offs?

Turn ons— Billy’s cheekiness— he’s really forward some a lot of the times, Billy’s cologne— sometimes he hugs Bee just to smell it, Billy’s bedhair— he just can’t keep from running his hands through it, Billy’s hips— he likes the way they fit in his hands, Bee’s hands and the things he does with them— just Billy in general. 

Turn offs— Billy’s goddamn messiness. Also, it’s a little uncomfortable when Billy forgets to shave— which is a lot.

Thomas— HoM:

28. Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?

As a prince, Thomas has grown up very isolated. His most common company has been his brother William, and it was only after his powers develops that he began to seek out others’ company. It wasn’t that he didn’t like his brother anymore, Will just … He could never keep up— and Thomas didn’t always feel guilty leaving him behind if it meant hanging out with others that could. 

Still, none of the other children of the Noble houses inspired any kind of trust, they were all acquaintances of convenience. There would only ever be one choice for best friend, the only person that would always be there and whom he could trust with anything— William.

And his worst enemy would be the one person that could come between him and his twin— the lizard prince. 

33. Concept of home and family? 

The House of Magnus is the only home he knows— but he doesn’t always feel at home. There are days when everything just seems … off. Any attempts to address those feelings are met with ire, contempt and dismissal. The only one who has ever shared these feelings is William— neither understand what it means. Sometimes … things just don’t feel real. 

Family is another complicated matter. There are so many secrets in his house. Trust is a mostly superficial thing. Thomas knows the adults are hiding things from him and William, he just doesn’t know what.

William is his playmate, his best friend, his confident when his lips are feeling loose. He takes perhaps a little too much pleasure in teasing him, but he loves him fiercely even when he doesn’t always demonstrate it properly. He gets to pick on Will all he wants, but others who try to do the same will learn that his bad side is not a nice place to visit. 

His Grandfather is loving, yet so stern sometimes, and he can’t really argue with Will when he says Magnus plays favorites. 

Uncle Pietro is his idol and his rival. He wants to better than him at everything, but he also is wary of him and the secrets he guards so fiercely, especially where his mother is concerned. 

Aunt Lorna is as kind as she is fierce, her opinions on matters are not to be questioned, but she does her best to take care of them when his mother is ill. 

Which seems to be an occurrence that is more and more frequent as of late. Thomas can’t remember the last time his mother spent more than a few weeks outside of the seclusion of her rooms. His mother is loving and gentle, and powerful.  Her love for him and William flows out of her like a waterfall and she never misses a moment to tell them how much she loves them, but lately it’s become almost … a manic gesture. Sometimes his mother looks at him and her eyes fill with tears and she pulls him close and she breaks down and then she is taken away by Uncle Pietro, and Thomas just wants to understand what is wrong. 

But no one will tell him. The secrets of their house run deep and are guarded jealously. 

48. How do they express love?

There are only two people Thomas knows without a shadow of a doubt that he loves. His mother, and his brother. He supposes he feels love for his Grandfather, Aunt and Uncle— but it lacks the same kind of ferocity that are unquestionable with Wanda and William. 

He is always careful around his mother, he tries to tone down his rambunctious nature, especially now that she is not as stable as she used to be. Thomas will often read to her in the garden, he’ll bring her flowers, and make her tea. He’ll let her hug him as often as she pleases, and even kiss her cheek when he’s feeling especially mellow. 

With William, he’s a bit more rough and tumble. He likes to tease and occasionally torment him because Will is just too funny when he gets angry. But when he takes things too far, he does try to make amends— he would never say “I’m sorry” but a he’ll offer a little help with his lessons, or bring him a new book of compositions.

Most importantly, he never turns his brother away when he’s had a night terror— and no matter what Will says it’s a terror not a nightmare because people don’t get that physically ill from a simple bad dream— he just does his best to just hold on tight and carry him through it until the fears fade with the morning light.
