Mud Island

After spending the eleventh day of our trip on an architectural boat tour and visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo, we boarded the penultimate train of the trip. Early on the twelfth day, we arrived in Memphis.

Our first stop (after spending the morning in a Starbucks and checking into our hotel) was Mud Island, which I absolutely loved! I am in awe of the Mississippi River Park, which features a hydraulic scale model of the lower Mississippi River.

Examining the river at this scale helps one appreciate the magnitude of the Mississippi. Although it was extremely humid in Memphis, we had a nice stroll down the river. The actual Mississippi is just to the west.
