My current favourite is that they’re bothy young naive popstars who are thrown together by a really shitty over-produced record label to be THE NEXT BIG THING and she’s scared shitless of doing anything to upset management and he resents her for lowering the tone of his ~~indie music~~ and somewhere along the way they figure out that what they should do is break away and become their own tiny little band with no budget and no following and they are left penniless by Evil Management but they share a teensy flat in london and live frugally and play gigs in smoky pubs and love each other to bits and by the end of it she has learnt to be her own person and he has learnt to let her in and yes.

oh my god speaking of movie ideas so LAST NIGHT elisa and i wrote a smillanchat about matt and karen doing an action film together. here it is.

OMG MOVIE IDEA. karen plays this rich landlady and matt's character is one of her tennants and he's all chill and doesn't take life seriously at all and she's all uptight and keeps pestering him to pay the rent which he never has because he's always broke and she's like "why don't you get a job?!" and he's just like "why do you own all these houses and live by yourself, don't you get so alone?" and they fall in love. and he moves in with her and she becomes his sugar mama.
OH GOD THE LAST SENTENCE CRACKED ME UP xD But that’d be SO GOOD especially because the roles you gave them strangely fit them. Matt is so flaily and childish sometimes he could easilly play that character and Karen’s very poised and can pull off a great ‘no nonsense’ expression plus they both have amazing comedic skills so I’d definitely want to watch that really badly!
Movie idea! (Which I blame entirely on listening to 'A Handsome Stranger Called Death') Matt and Karen in a 'Hades and Persephone' storyline, set somewhere in the 1920s. Karen would play a girl who has recently decided to become a flapper, wanting to rebel against family, and meets Matt's character in a jazz club. The whole atmosphere is a little bit much for her and she thinks maybe it isn't her scene after all, but Matt tricks/tempts her into staying and she comes to love the nightlife/him <3
OH I WOULD LOVE THAT SO SO MUCH. Again PERIOD CLOTHING IS MY WEAKNESS and ever since I saw ‘Chicago’ I also have a weakness for the 1920’s and the whole jazz club scene plus they’d look amazing in the costumes and their chemistry would be out of this world.

I’m considering watching one movie starring & about women every week for the next year and starting a movie blog to share my thoughts on them. If anyone wants to send me titles so I can start building a list while I give this further thought I would be super grateful. Good, bad, awful, feminist, queer, sexist, racist, blockbuster, indie, action, horror, romcom - I don’t care, as long as I can find it somewhere online and it stars women/women make up a large portion of it’s ensemble cast, I’ll watch it.
