Chemists Synthesize Artificial Cell Membrane

ScienceDaily (Jan. 25, 2012) — Chemists have taken an important step in making artificial life forms from scratch. Using a novel chemical reaction, they have created self-assembling cell membranes, the structural envelopes that contain and support the reactions required for life.

The Cosmic Membrane Theory

Previously noted as String Theory

In the mid 90s, a string theorist named Edward Witten of the Institute for Advanced Study and other important researchers considered that the five different versions of string theory might be describing the same thing seen from different perspectives. They proposed a unifying theory called “M-Theory”, in which the “M” is not specifically defined, but is generally understood to stand for “membrane”. The words “matrix”, “mother”, monster”, “mystery” and “magic” have also been claimed. M-Theory brought all of the string theories together. It did this by asserting that strings are really 1-dimensional slices of a 2-dimensional membrane vibrating in 11-dimensional space. (via wiki)

tl;dr: M- Theory states our universe is a membrane traveling within the 11th dimension, where other odd shaped membranes (Universes) flow in what is now called the Multiverse. This would explain the distortion of space-time and the bending of light as well as other fundamental laws of physics.

World's 1st Energy-Storage Membrane #energy #green #1st

A research team from the National University of Singapore’s Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative (NUSNNI) just created the world’s first energy-storage membrane. It promises greater cost-effectiveness in delivering energy that surpasses any of the existing technologies and it’s meant to be a environmentally-friendly solution. They estimate that 10-20 watt-hour would cost 1 US dollar while a lithium ion battery delivers only 2.5 watt-hour for $1.

ScienceDaily.com says”  The team is currently exploring opportunities to work with venture capitalists to commercialise the membrane.”

They have already demonstrated how it surpasses performance in energy storage, so we can imagine the possibilities! Hybrid vehicles, improved solar panels and wind turbines are the most obvious, but the list goes on!
