Holiday themed episodes always have a sense of fun and camaraderie to them, especially on Parks. And, when it comes to Halloween, P&R crafted an enjoyable Halloween episode without resorting to the trope that Halloween episodes have to “spook” the viewer. Instead, Parks does what it does best: characterization. (Meet ‘n’ Greet review under the cut!)
Thoughts on Ron/Ann
I feel like Ron/Ann has already happened. There was that brief window when Ann declared the way Chris ended their relationship made her a much more self-possessed person. It seemed somewhere within the realm of the possible then, mostly because Ron uses similar words to describe what attracts him in women.
And Ron and Ann did hang out during that window of possibility. They fixed everything in April and Andy’s house. But then Ann started talking like Ron, in a cutesy sort of way (“It’s so much fun to talk like that!”), and next thing you know, Ron’s putting her name in as “Girl” when they bowl together.
I think Ron’s attracted to women he wouldn’t call “girl”. Meanwhile, Ann dates Tom, who, unlike Ron or Chris, seems to like it when she acts more like him (“Diddly diddly diddly diddly SWAG!”).
That’s not to say Ron/Ann couldn’t ever happen (again). But I’d say it’s going to be a while. And I wonder if Ann’s going to develop in a way that sticks.
