“The Sydney Morning Herald, editorialising about the new media inquiry, said last week that what it called 'Murdoch papers' have made a: "... frequent practice of letting editorial bias show not only in opinion columns but also in news pages ... — Sydney Morning Herald, 16th September, 2011, " But that's their right, says the Herald. "That newspapers might ... take an editorial line strongly for or against a party or policy is a legitimate part of the community conversation that underpins democracy. — Sydney Morning Herald, 16th September, 2011, " Well, I don't agree. In a news story, it's not legitimate to cherry pick facts and ignore one side of an important argument. That's not journalism, it's propaganda, and it undermines democracy.”

Journalism at its worst.

If you didn’t watch ABC’s Media Watch last night regarding Today Tonight’s report on asylum seekers receiving government payments, you should. People need to realise the extent of ‘current affairs’ programs lying and modifying information so it suits their angle. As my friend James and I have been discussing on Facebook.

James: Jeeeez. Today Tonight is just truly Australia’s version of Fox News. I think any discerning individual understands that their stories are sensational but it is really something else when it is broken down like that.

Me: I know, huh? It’s basically political propoganda; fuelling hate for refugees in Australia by telling outright lies. Funnily enough, Four Corners broadcast a program entirely about the poor conditions for people living in refugee camps last night. Was very interesting viewing.

James: Yeah I have struggled to understand a lot of the rabid hatred that the ‘queue jumpers’ get from the public, but seeing that gives me a pretty fair indication where it comes from.

Anyone else have an opinion on the matter?

Today Tonight... on Refugees. Disgraceful

abc.net.au

It is no wonder so many Australians believe so much misinformation about refugees and Asylum seekers.  Media Watch exposes the truly blatant lies..

One of the writers at the ABC states…

I’ve spent four years in the Media Watch chair - and in all that time I have never seen a more mendacious, deceptive and inflammatory piece of ‘journalism’.

Lord. Read more here.

How long do you think it will be before the commercial stations develop Media Watch Watch, where they rubbish on the ABC’s attempts to rubbish on their own shows? Will the ABC then develop Media Watch Watch Watch?

Get your facts right, fools!

abc.net.au

It’s not news that Today Tonight is the most watched show on primetime television in an average Australian household.

It’s also not news that it’s possibly the best example for the worst kind of journalism ever performed.

Want proof? Here’s one, of the many.

For everyone who thinks asylum seekers who arrive in Australia by boat live in 4-star motels, drink water from gold glasses and lie in a lap of government-funded luxuries. Watch the Mediawatch report.

It’ll only do you good.

Also, you might find yourself swearing at the TT producers.

But that’s okay, they deserve it.
