One common question we get asked is: “What should I put for my transaction fee?”

In case you don’t know about the transaction fees, the marketplace creator gets a percentage of each transaction, which we call the “transaction fee”. The creator can choose their percentage- or if they don’t want to take a cut, they can set it to 0.

0%? why?

If you’re setting up a marketplace for a nonprofit organization, or if you want to advertise to your members that you don’t take a percentage, set your fee to 0%.

1-5% the middle.

We recommend 1-5% fees for most marketplaces. Other non-marketplacr marketplaces usually take around 3%, so that range seems reasonable for most marketplacr accounts.

5% or more??

If your marketplace is run by a community group and a the profits go to funding the group, a higher transaction fee is completely acceptable. For example, if you run a skating club and need to pay ice time, you can use the marketplacr profits to help subsidize rent and keep prices down for your club members.

3 features.

New feature!

We now offer support for Marketplaces to have their own domain names. If you log in to your marketplace tools page on Marketplacr.com, you’ll see instructions to add a domain name.

Awesome (but already existing) feature!

You can get to Marketplacr on Marketplacr.com, but you can also access your marketplace through a shortened URL!

Your marketplace is always available at these two addresses:

Marketplacr.com/marketplaceName

Mrktpl.me/marketplaceName

And for the future, we have plans for fully customizable marketplace designs.

We’re working on making 3 snazzy themes you can choose from for your marketplace

We’re also considering letting users write their own CSS - let us know what you think!

Marketplacr, meet the web.

Founding, developing, and launching Marketplacr has been an incredible journey that is really just getting started. Since we started 3 months ago, we’ve been working nonstop to make Marketplacr the best it can be while we constantly innovate and add new features.

But before we get into that (in fact, we can save those boring details for another blog post), we have an important question to answer…

What in the world is Marketplacr?

Marketplacr is a platform system that lets anyone create a marketplace for their community.

Huh?

Think of it this way - think of a hobby you’re into. Art? RC cars? Figure skating? Model rocketry? Books? Pretty much any hobby that involves a group or community is applicable.

Now think of all the things you buy and sell with other members of that hobby/community. Do you sell books you’ve read? Sell your art to the community? Sell model rocket components you’ve created? You get the idea. Almost every community involves the exchange of goods.

But how does that exchange work? A lot of hobbies have online forums, and people buy and sell to one another through those. Some other hobbies, like painting or figure skating, might have a location where these transactions are completed - the ice rink, the art studio, etc.

It’s time to take these exchanges into the 21st century. And that’s where Marketplacr comes in. You create a marketplace for your community, invite members of your hobby/community to join, and everyone begins listing items and buying/selling to one another.

No more annoying private messages on forums. Or difficult cash only meet ups in person. Welcome to Marketplacr.

Each community has their own fully customizable marketplace, controlled by the community itself.
