Load Cell Manufacturer Flintec Expands With New HQ
Expanding load cell manufacturer Flintec has moved into a new UK headquarters to help drive forward its growth plans over the next 10 years.
The load cells experts continue to invest heavily in innovation by expanding the research and development team at their new 12,000sq ft Flintec UK HQ in Cardiff.
It is a prelude to the Flintec AB Group headquarters function moving from Vesteras in Sweden to the new UK HQ. Flintec will continue to be owned by Sweden’s Indutrade Group.
Flintec Managing Director David Weeks said of the new HQ: “This was not a decision that was taken lightly. This is a significant financial undertaking and a long-term commitment.
“It underlines our confidence in the global markets. We have been seeing growth across virtually all our market sectors.”
In recent years Flintec has seen big increases in business in the BRIC economies – notably Brazil where the group has launched a new company, Flintec Brasil LTDA.
Flintec Brasil has enjoyed significant success in the oil industry with its new CC1 compression load cells and in the truck scale industry with its RC3 load cells.
But the Flintec group’s growth has been across the board as the load cell manufacturers have benefited from the global downturn.
Manufacturers all over the world have been under growing pressure to make their machines work harder and faster to boost productivity in challenging economic conditions.
Flintec’s new UK HQ is at least three times the size of its predecessor. Both buildings are at Capital Point on Cardiff’s Capital Business Park.
In physical terms, Flintec UK’s HQ has moved just 500 metres but in technological terms the leap is far larger.
Eleven of the 15-strong team at Flintec are research and development engineers – keeping its R&D laboratories at the heart of the business, building on existing innovations.
As part of the expansion, Flintec is investing in a new five-tonne deadweight testing machine with plans to bring in a new 25-tonne deadweight testing machine.

Honda plans to manufacture hybrids in the U.S.

On January 9, Honda CEO has announced at the Detroit Auto Show that the company will start manufacturing their newly introduced hybrid compact sedan in their factory in Indiana this spring. They also have a plan to start producing their new hybrid sports car, which they just revealed at the auto show, in their factory in Ohio within the next three years.
Currently Honda manufactures all hybrid vehicles in Japanese factories, however, unprecedented strength in yen is affecting the export revenues. The company will continue to manufacture the current lines of hybrid vehicles in Japan. This is the first time the company uses the factories in the U.S. to make the hybrid vehicles.
…perhaps this is a good news for some U.S. workers looking for factory jobs.
Killer 7 Review (GC)
SCORE: 9/10
Difficulty: Just right
Time Spent: 100 or more hours.
The Bottom Line: Masterpiece
Killer 7 doesn’t need a review on game play. It doesn’t need a review on graphics, even though it excels in both fields. What this game should be reviewed for, is it’s genius. At first you won’t realize it, but this is possibly the most thought provoking game ever created. Or even the most thought provoking fruit of the media to ever be released. This game can turn the way you see life upside down. And you won’t even realize it. It will take 2+ play throughs or hours of thinking, and even then you may not understand this game fully.
It takes place in several parts of the world. You play as the Killer 7, a group of assassins made up of 7 persona that all inhabit one mind. And they’re not all just a different personality either. They each take their own physical shape, with their own ability. They consist of Harman Smith, Garcian Smith, Dan Smith, Cayote Smith, Kevin Smith, Con Smith, Kaede Smith, and Mask de Smith. They’re mission is to assassinate Kun Lan, a terrorist possessing the “God Hand”, and Harman Smith’s long time rival.
The God Hand is a special ability that forces anyone it touches into a heaven smile. Heaven smile are the enemy in the game. They can hardly be called human, the take on a rather demonic shape and live in a constant state of ecstasy, which is why they are always smiling and laughing. They don’t feel pain either so if one gets to close he’ll jump onto you and self destruct, laughing hysterically all the while.
You’ll know one is in the room with you when you hear it giggle. At that point you need to switch into first person mode and scan for them. At that point just shoot like you life depends on it, because really, it does, nothing stops them from moving but death. However to speed up the process they each have a visible weak point on their head, knee, or elbow. Oh and if you didn’t get that they don’t feel pain, they even giggle when you shoot them, and they let out all that laughter when they die.
The game is displayed form several camera angles, and the characters follow a fixed path so you just have to hold down the button to run until you come across some enemies, then it’s played just like a first person shooter. You have unlimited ammo so it’s not too difficult. The game is also filled with all sorts of pretty simple to understand puzzles, and easy to find items. The only basic problem with the game is the lack of freedom, you really don’t get to move your character much. Other than that the story, the game play, and the thinking, all role into one perfectly.

Faulty Tires...

Over the past decade or so, faulty tires have popped up on the media radar on more than one occasion. In a perfect world, a tire manufacturer will test tires in their facilities to ensure that the tire will do what it was designed to do, and that is upholding the weight of a car that it was designed to go on, and standing up to the speed, pressure, inertia and any other natural forces that it would come up against supporting a car that it is attached to moving at high speeds in various seasonal and weather conditions. However, this is not a perfect world.
Sometimes, tire manufacturer cut corners trying to speed up the sales process, skipping the testing, which tragically ends up with customers having bad experiences, the tire company losing profits that they were so anxious to make, and costing them more money than they were trying to save.
Like the tire companies, we occasionally undervalue the part of our lives where God is taking us through processes and testing. But these times are precious; they allow God to fashion us into the kind of people, and yes, leaders, that are “built to last.”
