ok, should i get into shingeki no kyojin? if so, why? is it a manga and/or anime? btw i prefer manga, so if the manga's good, i'm ready to binge read.

i think you would like it!

and i’m gonna publish this just in case anyone else is on the fence or has no idea what it’s about

it’s a very violent and gory manga and anime set in a medieval times AU where humans have been forced to live inside 50m walls because Titans—giant creepy humanoids—hunt and eat us (i guess you can say i have a thing for cannibalism…)

i like and hate the realism of the story, in that it depicts the desperation of human survival very realistically; don’t get attached to any characters too quickly!  everybody gets eaten.  but they still hang onto hope as they try and fight off the Titans using some of the coolest gear i’ve ever seen.

the manga updates 1x per month and is on chapter 45 right now.  the anime just started!  and updates 1x per week.  right now the anime has 7 episodes and is roughly at about chapter 7 right now.

i much prefer the anime because it’s incredibly well animated, and i usually don’t like watching the anime!  i prefer reading manga too.

it’s just that the art in the manga is sometimes excellent w foreshortening and neat perspectives and other times you’re just like ???? anatomy?? facial expressions?? whereas the anime is an all around beautiful piece of work.

also i like this mangaka, he seems very aware of sexism and heterosexism; he refuses to sexualize the women and there are canonically queer characters.

right now almost all of the characters are ‘white’ since they all have german-esque names, with the noteable exception of my favorite character Mikasa, which makes me think that the human survivors are based on ethnic western europeans.

but i’m sure that as the series progresses the main characters will find other human establishments outside of their current walls.  i’m hoping for other kickass POC definitely.

i hope you enjoy!! :D

give it a try.  i read it all in a day and caught up w the anime the second day haha.

if you like cross dressing, like i do, than you’ll love all of these stories. it’s a collection of oneshots from different artists put together to show cross dressing in their own theme. my personal favorites are stories 3, 4, and 5. mostly 3 because it’s more of my taste but they are all absolutely amazing!

going along with cross dressing, this story is so well done. it really puts your emotions in different directions and i love that in hideyoshico’s work.

a really random rec if anyone needs something to pass the time.

I’m SUCH a sucker for nicely drawn hands.

Seriously, you should buy it. I’m glad I did

God's Child (Kami no Kodomo)

A disturbing horror manga about the life of a serial killer who becomes a sort of cult figure.

If you like Litchi Hikari Club you may also like this. It has similar elements, but this one has absolutely no comic relief. I’d say it’s worth reading for the art alone.

Too many trigger warnings to count & NSFW as fuck. Absolutely not for the faint of heart.

There is this manga. A wonderful manga about a boy.

Only that he is not a boy.

Sometimes, he is a girl, a lady, a young man, or an old man. Sometimes, he shows himself as an angel - with white wings on his back.

He neither calls himself God or Satan. The boy has no name.

Sometimes, he falls in love with a man, and decides to stay as a woman. Sometimes, he breaks a girl’s heart. Sometimes, he watches human falls in love.

He kills. He gives birth. He extends life. He inflicts disease upon people. He takes away pain.

He tells everyone that there is no God. But sometimes, they named him God anyway.

He travels through time. He takes Socrates to the rotten future. He opens a bar only to receive the step mother and her two wicked daughters as customers. He bends reality. He travels to the dark age to help an imprisoned man just because he wants to see human’s vengeance. Sometimes, he wants to see how low human can be. Other times, he understands that human is made for the better cause.

The boy asks “What is human?” and even with his eternal life, he cannot find the answer.

Too bad the author spends her energy on her other work. Although it isn’t so bad because that one is the answer of what a human is.

Tomodachi no Hanashi

Possibly the cutest friendship manga I have ever seen.  There’s only two chapters out but it’s got so much potential!  It’s about two pairs of best friends.  Two girls, two boys.

Of course they fall for each other, but more than romance, friendship is the most important in this manga.  It’s really sweet.  (:
