Reservoir in Singapore

Reservoir is a French word which means a place where something such as water is kept in reserve. There are a total of 14 reservoirs in Singapore. Visiting reservoir is a must do here in Singapore. I’ve only been in two - Labrador and Lower Peirce.

Last May 1, after vising the ChineseGarden, we went to Labrador Reservoir to take pictures of sunset. It was spectacular. There were other Singaporean photographers who went there too.

We set up our tripods near the shore. When it was already 7pm and the waves were getting stronger, we decided to pack up.

When Saturday came, Angel and I decided to visit the Lower Peirce Reservoir, the second largest reservoir in Singapore. They said that the sunset there was really stunning and some photos proved it.

While packing our stuff, I noticed that my remote switch was missing. It was already 4:30PM. Some of our photog friends told us that the best time was to be there by 6PM. I told Angel I needed the remote switch for my long exposure shots so we decided to go to Orchard to buy. However, the prices was way too high compared to Cathay Photo ($20 difference - I could buy a filter for my 24-70 =P). I didn’t buy the remote switch.

We took cab from Lucky P to Lower Peirce. The taxi driver told us that the view was better at Upper Peirce but transportation was difficult. We told the driver maybe next time.

When we got there. I looked around to look for area to compose my photos. There were people fishing and I couldn’t ask them to leave. I tried to take some photos of these people but they were moving and I couldn’t just ask them to stay foot or freeze for a minute for me hehe.

The sun was already setting. Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy. I was disappointed but thankful enough for the relaxing view.

When we got home, I was so excited. I post processed my HDR shots and post them online.

Our plan is to hopefully visit the rest of the Reservoirs in Singapore…
