Independence day

There’s something liberating about being independent. Knowing that waking up in the morning next to a pile of pillows alone doesn’t destroy you. In fact, it empowers you.

I feel as though there’s a turning point. At one stage you’re lonely and wanting someone beside you, then something changes. All of a sudden being alone makes you feel powerful.

I’m happy going out with my friends and not picking up. I’m happy not going on dates. I’m happy waking up alone. I’m feeling the most independent and powerful I have ever in my whole entire life and it’s because I’m happy with myself.

“Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. And intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you’ll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”
