LomoAmigo : Herman Dune and his LC-A !
If you have been following CocoCeline for a while now , you should know my adoration and addiction to Herman Dune … !Find below some pictures taken from the last interview on Lomography.com and the begining of the article !
“Strange Moosic”, the latest album of Herman Dune is released today. Yaya Herman Dune was kind enough to take some time to tell us his story with Lomography and the LC-A which is running for some years now. He took some pictures related to this new album, and also shows us some other pics related to his personnal life and the life of his band.

Tell us a bit about yourself
Well, my name is Yaya Herman Dune, I sing in Herman Dune, a Rock & Roll Band from Paris.
I met Peter Boesch, when I became his Room-Mate, moving back to Paris from New York, in 2004. He was developping a French Taste for Lomography at the time, being the ambassador in France, and he introduced me to these wonderful cameras, first the Holga, and then the LCA.
I have learnt to take pictures of two wonderful beings. my beautiful girlfriend and my little dog. I remember capturing them both together, and when I saw the film processed, I saw an image of my love for them.

If you could take your LC-A+ and a sack of film anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
I’d go to Malibu, California. I take great pictures there, and I’d love to have good pictures of the great waves that make me happy, maybe take it underwater when I bodysurf.
The one person (living or deceased) who you would most like to photograph.
I would have love to take pictures of Groucho Marx. The Alchemy between his character and the way he looked would be the most interesting thing for me to take a picture of.
Tell us a bit about this series of pictures
Well, here you’ve got rolls, straight from my life, with Herman Dune, and out of my band. I find the LC-A has become my companion ; and through this llittle camera I communicate with my eyes and my memories. We have found some sort of dialogue. My camera understands my eyes now, and my memories understand what the LCA says now…
My new album with Herman Dune, “Strange Moosic” will be out this week. It comes with 12 songs, and a whole book of drawings, and also LCA photography, shot during the recording sessions for the album.
That’d be : Don’t go for the effect, try to just press the trigger when there’s something you see, that calls you, a thing of beauty, the LCA will give it justice.

A horse-sized duck would be just like a normal duck only bigger and meaner. Ducks use rape as a standard reproductive strategy. They are into necrophilia. It’s only because they’re small that they haven’t taken over the world.”

- #1 the one who asks: mr sobecki.. zuallerst fang ich mal mit der absoluten standardaufforderung an - erzähl uns etwas über dich!
- mr sobecki: wie jeder in meinem alter: verfressen und dumm.
- #2 the one who aks: sehr ausführlich und vorallem selbstkritisch! wie hast du dich gefühlt, als du die freudige nachricht bekommen hast, das foto des tages geschossen zu haben?
- mr sobecki: es war eine ziemlich ungewohnte sitiuation, schließlich war ich erst seit 2 tagen angemeldet. ich konnte und kann es kaum glauben aber ich freu mich riesig! :) (oder, um seine erste antwort auszudrücken - boar alta geil ey, unnormal ey!)
- #3 the one who asks: ..aber du fotografierst ja nicht erst seit 2 tagen! wann und wie hast du begonnen?
- mr sobecki: ich hab mit der nikon meines opa's begonnen, als ich merkte wie viel spaß ich dabei habe, hab ich gespart und gespart bis ich das geld für meine canon aus der eos serie zsm hatte. nun musste eine analoge her.. oma's alte Konica FP-1. das ist nun etwa ein jahr her!
- #4 the one who asks: welche kameras und filme dürfen nie in deinem dancing shoes-beutel fehlen? (ohja, auch noch monkeys ♥er) und gibt es ein paar, in die du unbedint noch investieren möchtest?
- mr sobecki: nicht fehlen darf meine canon eos 550d, die Konica FP-1 und eine einwegkamera ist wohl auch von vorteil. und ich bin nicht besonders wählerisch was filme angeht.. und ja, nachts träume ich von der canon eos 1d.
- #5 the one who asks: ..das wir uns im traum noch nich begegnet sind, verwundert mich grad ernsthaft.. die 1d ist bei mir neben der lubitel 166+ auch traumthema #1! hast du einen bestimmten fotografischen stil oder ist dein beuteschema da eher groß?
- mr sobecki: mit meiner digitalen knipps ich viel doof rum, in der hoffnung, dass etwas gutes bei raus kommt, mit der analogen versuch ich den moment bestmöglich festzuhalten, da wartet man schonmal einige zeit auf den perfekten moment.. jedoch ist im großen und ganzen mein beuteschema EHER groß.
- #6 the one who asks: und zu guter letzt - hast du noch ein paar ultimative tipps, die du neulingen der analogen fotografie mitgeben willst?
- mr sobecki: da ich selber neuling bin.. nein! holt euch die tipps bei der großmeisterin und meinem bro ab.. marie herpe!
