Time to work on pronunciation.

Tết. Family. chúc mừng năm mới. REDENVELOPE.

It's new all over again.

How’s life? So for those of you out there who are interested in my mundane life, here’s a little update for you people.

Actually, blog posts about daily life are not such bad things after all. I mean, if you have premature senile dementia or something, it’s a good way to keep track of your life and make you not forget things so fast… If. I can’t remember things further than three days ago, so I shall start from Thursday.

Thursday:

Thursday was the first day of LNY! It calls for a celebration of course. I love wearing new clothes. No, wait, I love new clothes. :D I love new everything, anything. So it was the usual going-to-places schedule kind of thing and then we were back home like around 5-ish.

Friday/yesterday:

Now, Friday was a bit more interesting. To start off with, I was nearly 1.68m tall yesterday, all thanks to my 5-inch heels and much thanks to my odango hair. Feels great to be tall. So after going to a memorial temple (?) to pray in the morning, we headed to Dong Hai for dimsum afterwards! This is the best part because I love dimsum!!! After which, we went to my father’s teacher’s house (LOL with the apostrophes asses) to pay her a visit. And we wanted to catch a movie after that at JP but because all the tickets were sold out so we went for a quick shopping around JP before heading home. Even though 60% of the shops were closed, I managed to get a Rubi nail polish and this baby!

After a gratifying experience of waking up to a horribly creased and ruined manicure on Friday morning (I painted my nails at late Thursday night and god knows what got into me but I dumbly assumed that it would dry properly within an hour’s time which obviously didn’t), I wanted to hunt for a proper quick dry top coat. GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH NAIL POLISH REMOVER AND NAIL POLISH WOULD I HAVE TO WASTE IF I WERE TO RE-DO MY NAILS EVERY 5 MINUTES BECAUSE IT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY RUIN ITSELF DUE TO ITS WETNESS. Anyway, this bottle of liquid magic I bought (from Kissusa) retails for $18.90 at Watsons and it lives up to what it claims! My nails were dry to the touch within a minute or so. So miraculous that I couldn’t stop myself from touching my nails afterwards.

The nail polis I got from Rubi sucks to the max, though. It’s just basically a cheap made-in-China gooey liquid stored in a somewhat OPI-looking bottle. Getting the bottle right doesn’t mean the contents inside are good. It sucks. Maybe it’s just the colour I tried (Miami Coral) as all red or orangey shades especially tend to be very transparent-looking. But yucks, it felt like I was applying glue to my fingernails. For a few more cents, I could have gotten a Skin Food nail polish.

I realize when I’m talking about nail stuff, I tend to digress. But I love talking about nail stuff!

I saw this in Watsons too! I feel like rushing up to grab it because it’s limited edition after all. But then I just acquired another bottle of perfume and this one’s expensive stuff so I don’t know if I should get it… D: I hate it when I finally make a decision and then when I rush to get it, it’s off the shelves. Plus it’s a limited edition so I’m in a dilemma. It smells good though! Reminds me of Anna Sui but much cheaper.

Saturday/today:

So, apparently, today was the meet-up session to visit my primary school teacher - Ms Tan - after such a long while! Well, such a long while for me, because I have been pretty much missing out on every single primary school class outing for the past four years or so. I could finally make it for this round! Basically, everyone grew much, much, MUCH taller with a 1.80m++ Jordan and Cheuk Heng (god, what do these people eat?!?) and the girls were all pretty and such. At first it was a bit awkward because I hadn’t seen them for like four years but after a while, it warmed up! Ms Tan hasn’t aged, I think. She looks pretty much the same, except with shorter hair and all. I realized her house was right beside my aunt’s house which I didn’t go pay a visit to. *Guilty* So Ms Tan ordered some pizza and chicken wings and after the food in our stomach, we started playing some card games inclusive of Blackjack for the last two rounds. LOL it was quite fun. Because we weren’t allowed to use real money to bet, we ended up opening a pack of peanuts and used that as our chips and some of them ended up eating their own money. LOL. Then the games ended when someone has no more peanuts left so they had to do forfeits. So that continued for a while then some people left, leaving behind around half of the original number of people who came. Then Alex and Bernard decided to have a peanut eating competition to finish the leftover peanuts from the games. They seemed like they could polish off the entire table of food, WTF.

So… that pretty much sums up the past few days.

I have plenty of time to blog nowadays, guess why? BECAUSE I HAVE NO SCHOOL!

LNY
The defMo Lunar New Year performance this year was unlike anything defMo has done before… but seriously! This year, defMo’s LNY performance was guided by a creative director just like Awaaz. And our Creative Director was none other than the SUPER FIERCE Sarah McCaffery!!

(this was a pic from the fashion show she organized)

Her vision for LNY was amazing and with the dedication of our memebers and the absurd creativity of choreographers Cheryl Lin, Cameron Thompkins, Sylvia Nantier, Ashley Tsai, and Rebecca Pham, the vision came to life this past Saturday. Thank you to all the alumni and parents who came to see our performance. We couldn’t do it without your support. Check out the video below this post!

Well, over winter break, several defMo members (Zoey Best, Catherine Bittar, Albert DeCaprio, Catharine Kappauf, Sylvia Nantier, Alex Pherribo, and Cameron Thompkins) traveled to Atlanta to film G’s houstonATLANTAvegas choreography! Watch them WEERRQQ in the video below this post.

Super jealous I won’t be able to make it but check out this email from Lawrence!

Hello Defmo/Alumni.

Hope you guys are all doing well! I have this new project I’m working on, its a web commercial/viral video for Wall’s Ice Cream (an international brand owned by Unilever). They are promoting a new vending machine, the Smile Machine, that recognizes your smile and gives you an ice cream, and they want us to shoot a concept that basically involves a lot of sick dancers in front of this machine just smiling, freestyling, and goofing around.

We are shooting on the weekend of March 5th and wanted to see if any of you guys were in NYC and were interested in being a part of this. I have several Defmo Alum who are already coming, if anyone else is interested let me know and I’ll give you more information.

If you’re interested, email him at chendagian@gmail.com

Happy Laos New Years! <3 Bpee Mai. :)

LNY'11

It’s so sad that we cannot celebrate new years without there being a fight or shooting. All those “gangsters” & “thugs” need to grow the fuck up. How do you have pride for your race&culture when you go onto the temple grounds and fire a gun? Do you think that’s okay? Do you think that’s acceptable & that you won’t be bahp (cursed)? I don’t think so. If you have funk with another “gang” “click” or person handle that shit elsewhere. Unlike you people we respect the temple, our culture, & our lao community. We want to celebrate LNY and have a good time without having to continuously watch our backs. It upsets me that this happens every damn year. This isn’t the time for war, it’s the beginning of a new year where we let everything in the pass go and start fresh. Get that through your ignorant heads! Ugh. I’m so disappointed.. Happy Lao, Thai, & Cambodian New Years. Year of the Rabbit. Maybe next year there won’t be any funk or drama.

Looking forward to the weekend. Crawfish time.

JKAY, I’ve never tried crawfish. I feel uncomfortable eating food with eyes

But looking forward to LNY

Boba Tea and Fried Ice Cream.
