WHY I RECOMMEND YOU TO WATCH THE HOUR; an essay

The Hour is a relatively new TV series created by the BBC about a team of journalists in the years 1956-1957 who run a news programme of the same name. It has two seasons so far, each consisting of six 60-minute episodes.
That sounds pretty standard, boring maybe, doesn’t it?
But that’s so not the case. It”s not just something for history geeks or period drama-lovers. It’s for everyone who loves shows with lots of dialogue, thinking, brains. Or just everyone who loves a great set of mindblowingly amazing characters. Okay, I’m terribly fond of The Hour so that makes me a little biased, but in this long and detailed post I’ll try to explain why is it an exceptional piece of television.
Shortly put:
- It has romance.
- It has suspense.
- It is witty.
- It is emotional.
- It is straightforward.
- It deals with past issues in a way that is still relevant to our present and it inevitably makes you reflect to and think about
- It is absolutely marvelous to watch, pleases the eye to a great extent.

Please, give it a chance.
