Mein Pencast zum Wochenende: Es wird gekocht! :-)
Im Rahmen der 1edu-Smartpen-Testwochen möchte ich nun noch die wichtigste (und beste!) Funktion des Livescribe Echo Smartpens vorstellen: Der Pencast, bzw. Paper Replay.
Ich habe ja schon in einem älteren Beitrag erklärt, wa es damit genau auf sich hat. Kurz zusammengefasst: Der Stift kombiniert Geschriebenes mit einer Sprachaufzeichnung - super für Meetings (denn wer kann sich schon an wirklich alles erinnern) und Vorlesungen in Schule und Uni. Das ganze kann dann auf den PC exportiert werden und auch direkt am Stift abgespielt werden, dort entsprechend ohne Bild/Text. Die Funktion gleicht dann mehr eines Diktiergeräts. (Gibt’s dafür eigentlich eine App? Fände ich super!)
Da ich aus betriebsrechtlichen Gründen keine Mitschnitte von Meetings online stellen darf (bei RTL wird das Betriebsgeheimnis natürlich maximal gewahrt), habe ich mich entschieden, einen seperaten Pencast zu erstellen. Und damit es für alle nützlich ist, gibt’s eines meiner Lieblingsrezepte: Spinat-Kokos-Suppe. Unkompliziert zuzubereiten und immer wieder lecker. Ist doch besser als Business-Kram, mit dem man nichts anfangen kann. ;-)

Meine Einschätzung:
Die Aufnahme des Pencasts läuft wie gewohnt/erwartet unkompliziert über die Schaltflächen im Notizbuch. Alles geht dann automatisch, der Pencast wird beim Anschluss des Stifts an den PC direkt erkannt und übertragen. Vom Livescribe Dektop aus kann der Pencast in verschiedenen Formaten (Graifsch, PDF und animiert) exportiert werden. Praktischerweise ist hier die Livescribe-Community-Funktion integriert, mit der man den Pencast dort direkt ablegen ud veröffentlichen kann. Natürlich gibt es auch einen “gechützten” Modus für sensible Dokumente.Ich persönlich würde mich über eine direkte Integration von Facebook freuen, um Pencasts mit Freunden zu teilen. Im Webinterface geht das zwar, aber im Livescribe Desktop habe ich diese Möglichkeit leider nicht entdeckt. Ein weiteres Manko ist, dass man Pencasts nicht nachträglich bearbeiten kann. So wird z.B. die komplette Seite angezeigt, also auch Dinge, die man früher verfasst hat und die nicht zum eigentlichen Pencast gehören. Hier fände ich eien Auschneide-Funktion oder einen “interaktiven” Radiergummi sinnvoll und wichtig. Ich habe mich beim ersten Notieren des Rezepts verschrieben und nochmal neu angefangen - dooferweise gibt’s die Einkaufsliste deshalb doppelt (und einfach falsch) zu sehen. Hier gibt’s dringenden Verbesserungsbedarf wie ich finde, schließlich will man ja auch nicht immer ALLE Infos einer Seite teilen. Ansonsten hat mich die Pencast-Funktion absolute überzeugt. Besonders beeindruckend finde ich die Möglichkeit, perKlick an bestimme Stellen zu springen. Echt “smart”! :-)
Online Influence...Smart People Eventually Find It
Online influence can be both real and perceived, depending on the consumer. A reader can be easily tricked to believe that little avatar has a great deal of online clout (or possibly Klout, if they manufacture it), but a deeper analysis might reveal a shallow composition of actual original thoughts and/or actions. Just another profile with 1,000’s of Twitter followers, but a timeline full of simply RT’s, not original thinking.
A true online influencer is someone who’s had success offline as well, by knowing how to really communicate both humanly and virtually (a lost art and skill), or has been legitimately paid for being successful in an online setting, and doesn’t need to brag about it.
They probably give away some thoughts or software for free, and smart people will recognize this and spread their virtual gospel virally (a fake influencers’ favorite word).
The smart people behind suites of products like Hubspot and 37signals allow free access to portions of their services, welcoming potentials customers into their systems (and CRM databases) to test the waters at their comfort level. Because both camps spend countless hours fine-tuning their work to provide excellent products, price-conscious shoppers remove barrier concerns and eventually add the residual-building products that come with monthly fees. (This model is like teaching a child to swim: free trials are like the orange swimmies, and once the comfort level is established, little Billy is doing cannonballs and won’t get out of the pool).
Plain and simple, their offering works, which is all we are looking for. I share on social channels and through word-of-mouth the handful of my favorite services or products I champion as often as possible: Livescribe pens, Pitchengine, anything Apple, Mint.com and more.
That is how online influence is built. By providing something that satisfies my needs, with minimal hassle, I will listen intently to those designers and developers, always looking for their next great idea. If they are smart enough to share their knowledge (or have a PR/marketing-savvy person on staff if they are too much of a tech geek), people will turn the dial to listen, and tell others whom to tune out. Smart people eventually see through the snake-oil pitch, which spread too quickly in 2010.
Companies can maximize online influencer exposure by following the Mailchimp model. Offer free adoption, but the added value is their email experts discussing the company, trends, etc. in simple dialogue, drawing a following. Their team is known for caring about customers, resulting in excellent WOM for new leads.
Jason Weaver, founder of Shoutlet, designed an excellent service, and is very passionate about it on and offline. I want to know more about their improvements. The ‘new Twitter,’ Quora, is a place to weed out SMD’s from smart online influencers. I’ll pay attention to anyone behind developing tools like Mint.com, and their lead designer’s detailed post confirms why.
Provide a great product and service with passionate insider dialogue, and you might make my favorites list soon.

Gameranx have a top 10 list of Classic Platform games that shaped PC gaming. They listed some gooooood titles, but do you folks see any others that deserve to be in there instead?
