Live: John Cleary / Moon Taxi / Dr. John at Live on the Green

This year the producers of Live on the Green (the free concert series held at Public Square Park) have really outdone themselves. The line-up for this season is ridiculous. And the starting line-up of week 1 is no exception!
When we got there John Cleary was on the stage. It was just him at a piano, and he sounded great. Very cool tunes and a captivating voice and stage presence. He also plays in Dr. John’s band!
After that my boys in Moon Taxi came out and absolutely killed it. They’ve really busted their asses over the last few years, and have become true performers. It’s nice to see them get the amount of love and attention they deserve, and they earned every bit of tonight. The place was packed, and fun little fact: Moon Taxi is the only band that has played Live on the Green in all 4 years that it has been happening.
Then the Night Tripper himself took the stage. I hope I’m as funky as Dr. John is at that age. He sounded great, looked great, and had the whole place boogeying down. On this night, it must been the right place AND the right time. Awesome.
