It’s not every night your BFF blows in on the seven, ready to batch it badcore til dawn, but that’s just the kind of night this night was.  First we made tacos.  Next we backcombed our hair.  Third we cracked brews and hid brews in our pockets.  We took our keys off the key ring to lighten the load.  I changed my clothes.  We hit the road.

BFF and I weren’t the only ones dressed to kill.  Jarrett Samson of Korean Gut was outfitted in two thirds of a Canadian tuxedo (his descriptor, not mine) - jean jacket, jean shirt, cut-off jean shorts.  Calgary stampede on vacation.  Tom Waylon wore his wit like a diamond necklace, sparkling in the stage lights.  Word is, he’ll be wearing that necklace to the main stage in the Fox’s annual SEEDS competition.  Cheek.

From the bottom of my heart, when I am watching Babysitter play I am watching Babysitter love each other.  Those dudes are connected, their bond as crystal clear and real as Kristian’s transparent guitar.  They opened with Revolution, it made me think of Crace Mntn.  More love, more faith, Babysitter.  Say what I want to say, what Crimethinc would say, and play that heavy jam that accompanies pleasure.

Apollo Ghosts will never stop rocking.  It feels so good to see them play with Clisby again.  I know it’s been forever that he’s been back but I really feel overwhelmed with joy and gratitude every time I see him up there with the rest.  And the addition of Jarrett on guitar, it’s like, finally, Teacher can put his hands out as much as he should do, no longer bound by those six strings.  He’s like a balloon untethered, floating higher and higher into the starstruck space of passionate rock.

Fuck, yeah.
