Getaway, Final Part
Based On: last part of their getaway, and them waiting in the airport. This isn’t my favorite part, but I think it wraps everything up quite nicely. Justin and Selena aren’t perfect, they fight. But, they’ll come back together. I’m hoping that after these past few months, they’ve learned to push past all their problems. Merry Christmas Everyone(: Have a beautiful day, I love you all! Like, comment, enjoy(:
“This is not the airport,” Selena mentioned as she looked out the window. They had spent two wonderful days isolated from the rest of society, and neither of them wanted to jump back into real life. They had spent the days cuddled in bed, enjoying each other’s presence and getting back to their roots. But Justin wouldn’t be Justin if he didn’t have one last surprise.
“Nothing gets past you,” he replied in fake amazement, tapping her nose with the tip of his finger. She scrunched her nose and stuck her tongue out at him. He smiled at her childlike expression and replaced his finger with a kiss.
“Tell me where we are.”
“You’ll see,” Justin beamed.
Before Selena could as any questions, she was heaved out of the car and into the building in front of her. She giggled at his enthusiasm and held onto his hand for dear life. He opened the door, and Selena’s jaw dropped in awe. There was an ice rink, lined with twinkling lights, and a Christmas Tree shining in the middle.
“I know that we said nothing romantic, just us, but we’re not seeing each other on Christmas, and I heard about this place last time we were here, and I thought it would be fun—“
Selena covered Justin’s mouth with her palm and smiled. Her eyes were as bright as his. “This place is beautiful Justin.”
“You’re not mad?” Justin bit his lip.
“How could I possibly be mad?” Selena grabbed his cheeks between her fingertips, and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. “This is your way of spending Christmas with me, and I love that.”
In that moment, she could see him again, the real him. His jeans were a little too baggy, his sweatshirt was a completely distracting color, and his beanie did nothing to complete the look, but that was Justin. He was ridiculous at times, but there was nothing about him that Selena didn’t love. Her fingers glided down to his heart, the part of him that she loved the most. She could feel the compassion and kindness with every beat.
“I love you,” Selena breathed out.
She wasn’t even sure that Justin would hear her, but she needed to say it. She wanted to. In the past few months, those words had become as casual as a hello or goodbye. But now, she could say those words with her heart and soul underneath the surface.
And Justin could reciprocate them with the same measure of meaning, “I love you too.”
—
“Don’t make me leave,” Selena grumbled as she crawled onto Justin’s lap. He placed his hand on her thigh and rubbed slow circles, trying to comfort her. “I don’t want to go back to the real world just yet. I’m scared.”
Justin brushed the strands of hair away from Selena’s face. “Of what?”
“History repeating itself,” Selena admitted.
“We won’t let it happen this time.”
“Justin you can’t promise that. You know how it works with us. We’re perfect one minute, then a complete disaster the next,” Selena sighed. She hated to ruin her weekend high, but she needed to face the facts.
“Hey, stop it,” Justin reprimanded. “I repeat again, we won’t let it happen this time.”
“How do you know that?” Selena urged worriedly.
“Because this time, it’s different. We’ve made all the mistakes we could have possibly made, and we know how to get through them. I took you for granted Selena. That was the biggest mistake that I made, and I hate myself for doing it,” he frowned momentarily before picking up again. “But now, I won’t let that happen. Life without you is hell Selena, and I’m a little too young to die.”
“I don’t want to lose you again,” Selena whispered quietly. She didn’t want to see the Justin that went out and partied to forget his problems. She’d seen that part of him, and she didn’t like it.
“You won’t.”
“And, I don’t want to break up anymore,” she added.
“We won’t.”
“What if we fight?”
“Then we fight, we talk about it, and we have some steaming hot make up sex,” Justin smirked, kissing the edge of her jaw. She allowed herself a quick smile before pushing him back lightly.
“What if I fuck up?” Selena looked down and played with the zipper on Justin’s jacket.
“Then that’s okay because neither of us is perfect. You are pretty damn close, but you are still allowed to make mistakes.” Justin lifted Selena’s chin so that she looked him in the eyes. “I love you Selena, and I’m in this. I’m in this for the good times and the bad. I’m in this for the long haul. I am all in.”
