New Item: Patches

Originating from Kirby’s Air Ride, the patches are special power-ups that appear in City Trial. (Which I have written about as a concept for a new stage.) The Patches are used to upgrade your Air Ride machine for the challenge at the end of the City Trial game. In SSB, touching a Patch would automatically pick it up, much like a Star or a Mushroom. Their effects would be permanent unless the player carrying them would take enough damage or be knocked out. Their abilities would stack, meaning that you would not be limited to carrying an upgrade in just one stat, nor would you only be able to upgrade said stat one time. (In Air Ride, you can carry eighteen patches in each category, but for fairness’s sake, it should be limited to around three patches in SSB) Given their potential game-breaking bonuses, their appearance would not be common. Not all of the patches from the original game are pictured above, but I think that the ones I’ve chosen would work the best as items in SSB.
Top left: Charge - This would increase the charging speed of your Smash Attacks and Special Attacks.
Middle: Top Speed - This would increase the movement speed of your character, effecting both running and jumping.
Top Right: Weight - This would increase your character’s weight, effecting your ability to be launched, and also your fall speed.
Bottom Left: Offense Up - This would increase your attack, causing you to deal more percentage of damage with every attack.
Bottom Right: Defense Up - This would increase your defense, causing you to take less percentage of damage from every attack.
Inclusion of these patches would also mean that their negative versions would be included as well. With the negative patches, the colored areas of the patch are replaced by the color gray. They all have the opposite effects of the normal patches. The negative patches would appear more frequently if there were already a lot of patches being used by the players.
One other idea would be to have the super-rare All Up patch appear along with the ones I already mentioned. The All Up patch lives up to its name and upgrades every stat by one level. It is pictured below.
