Just want to give an update on my own wedding that should be happening in 2014. We are currently saving and I want to get an official date by the end of July!! Until then! I’m crunching numbers and on a strict (but not so strict) budget. If nothing crazy happens we should be on the right track. We need all the luck in the world since we’re pretty unlucky.. although we are lucky in love ;-P I’m setting a budget at 20K. We all know Cambodian weddings (or any wedding) can cost a pretty penny but I’m hoping that everyone who is helping me in this wedding will learn to budget with me.. mostly speaking to my family members who are big spenders and highly opinionated with what should be done. *Crosses fingers*
I’ve gained a few new followers since the last time I wrote a little update so I want to say THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING! I don’t think many Khmer people know about this blog so if you happened to stumble upon it and clicked the follow button I hope you like it :) because I sure do. Before it was just mainly everything involving Cambodian weddings. It was really just for me so I can get a general idea of what I wanted in my wedding. Also I just think its beautiful! But I figured there is only so much that I can post on here. The reality is that not that many people are getting married the Cambodian way anymore. I live in Florida and I don’t know any other Cambodian person that is my age (I’m 22) that are going to have or even want a traditional Cambodian wedding. And then the generation after us… who knows what the future holds for Cambodian weddings in the United States. I’m sure it’s much different in more Cambodian populated states like Cali and Mass. I’m just speaking from where I live.
So that is why I changed the tumblr name to royalkhmer (it was cambodianweddings before) and started to reblog/ post pictures of the Apsara. Who knows maybe after the wedding I’ll turn this tumblr into all things Cambodian! What do you guys think about that?? For now it will just be weddings and apsaras so if you are interested in our culture whether you are Cambodian or not you can click in the link to the left that says “Khmer Blogs”.
Thanks again for following!!!!!! :) Sorry for the lack of reblogs/ posts. I’m still here!
