*UK URBAN WAVE EXCLUSIVE* Y'OH Leaks Outerwear Design

With Y’OH launch night just 6 weeks away and more ‘heads’ getting curious about it, Kara Messina, fashion designer based in East London, has exclusively leaked the sketch of an outerwear piece to UK Urban Wave.

Kara has perfectly merged her skills as a designer and a pattern cutter, with her cultural awarness which she developed through being obsessed with social studies and branding. Messina is about to revolutionise the streetwear culture with what she defines as “visually hardcore”.

What I have seen of the colllection so far she has definitely shown bravery in the creative process.

From the garments proportions to the fabrics selection, there is no way Y’OH is going to be a standard streetwear brand, which explains why the collection is entitled ‘HEADS AIN’T READY’ (as quoted by Really Dope’s MikeCee Y’OHs graphic artists).

Describing her line, Kara Messina has said:

Y’OH is special because of what I have pieced together. I guess it’s like music in the way you could sample an existing beat and add your own vocals to it. Then the way people wear it will be their interpretation of how they understand it, kind of like when a song is remixed by a dj to make it suit their sound.

The collection is made of shirts, jackets, coats and tops, but NO jersey t-shirts! (Imagine that !) As the designer has stated more than once: “There’s enough t-shirt brands in the world”.

Don’t forget Y’OH launches on April 7th at Pure Evil Gallery (Shoreditch).

Special announcements about the event are going to be dropped right here on UK Urban Wave later this week! Stay tuned!

If this is the first time you come across Y’OH and the intellectual mind behind it, I suggest you to read her interview with Full Frontal Fashion (click here).
