Sorority Trouble
Just got an e-mail from our chapter president, asking up to help our her friend from home who’s sorority is in jeopardy of being shut down for an illegitimate reason. Please read it and help out!
I NEED EVERYONES HELP! THIS IS FOR ANOTHER SORORITY IN NEED!
So I’m reaching out to you and your sorority in a time of need! But I hope everything is going well with you!! Kappa Kappa Gamma at our school is in serious trouble. Our school is unhappy with the social scene at Trinity, and thinks that it has become too much of a “party school.” In order to fix this, they’ve just announced a series of changes that will begin to take place in the Spring semester. The mandate that effects us the most is one dealing with Greek life- stating that all organizations must become coed. Obviously, Kappa is an all-female fraternity, and cannot allow boys to join. As a result, the school essentially saying too bad and forcing us to abide by these rules (thus revoking our charter with nationals) and making us dissolve. Luckily, Kappa isn’t the only group of people on campus that’s quite disturbed. Tons of alumni, faculty, and students both in fraternities/sororities as well as those not involved are upset. There’s a petition online that could really make an impact on our administration, and it only takes a second to sign. If you could pass this along to the rest of your chapter, and get everyone to sign it, it would mean SO much to me and the rest of my chapter. You don’t need to write anything in the optional box, but if you want to here are some ideas- you’re a part of a sorority and what it means to you to have such a strong, national all-female organization it would truly mean so much to us. Obviously you all should write something you believe the school administration should get a chance to read, something that will help them realize what a mistake they’re making.
A lot of other sororities, especially Kappa, have been reaching out and helping us so to have you do this too would be so helpful. Every signature counts.
