Alright; this is a quick rant on something I've been wanting to address for a while.
There are people in the kandi community who are very, very popular for the things they make. Not for their attitudes, who they are, how they act, how they treat other people; but just for the things they make. And that’s just fine; there is nothing wrong with being noticed for making original things and coming up with original ideas.
But; I don’t care if you can make shoes, gas masks, dresses, coats, hats, backpacks, purses, gloves, full-armed cuffs, etc. (I’m not pointing out any individual by saying these things, they are just examples) The second that you begin to think of yourself as a: kandi god, kandi wizard, kandi legend, kandi goddess, kandi master or say: “Well, I’ve never seen anybody else make stuff that’s as cool as mine.” or “Haha, I’ve personally never seen something that made me go OH SHIT.” or anything else along those lines (again, not pointing out anybody, just examples.) then I don’t care if you can make a fucking lifesize replica of the Statue of Liberty; I won’t be impressed with anything you come up with.
Kandi is not a contest. It’s not about who has the better skills, who can make the better stuff, who has original ideas or who is more unique. Kandi is kandi. It’s about friendship, PLUR, and the bond we create by being apart of this. Of course; originality is something that’s important and seeing what people come up with is amazing.
That being said; it’s awesome if you can make something like a pair of shoes or a full face mask or a dress or backpacks, etc. But your skills don’t automatically give you the right to become an asshole. You aren’t any better than someone who makes just singles. You aren’t any better than someone who has been into kandi for a few months or even a week.
We’re all equal, there aren’t levels or anything else that determines who is better or who is above everyone else.
That shit isn’t cute.
Now, I am not body-shaming, slut-shaming or..fashion[?]-shaming in any way.
But I would MUCH rather go to a rave in phats, a t-shirt, huge kandi past my elbows & look ridiculous than wear a tutu, sports bra, fluffies & just a “pretty” singles just for the sake of “looking cute.”
I don’t care if you wear that ^^ I am not discriminating or judging in any way.
But it’s getting on my nerves how if you show up to raves looking “stupid” then people think that…you’re not a real raver?
Bitch please.
You can leave now if you’re going to judge someone based off of how they are dressed.
