Today I start filming my short film “Color Me In”, which is a screenplay adaptation for Kai Davis’ poem “Homicidal Rainbow”. If you haven’t seen it before, definitely watch her performance to get a sense for the story.

I have to give special thanks to Kai for the inspiration, as well as being willing to collaborate with me and trusting me with her work to create a film around it. I am also grateful for my screenwriting teacher at Lights Film School for giving me the tools necessary to connect with this character so that I could create a compelling interpretation of this story.

The film will feature Khaleb Salah, Heather Thomas, and Kai Davis. I’m really looking forward to working with them as my cast. You should follow their blogs, because they are awesome people and talented artists.

I’m a little anxious since this will be my first short film that’s longer than 2 minutes. But, I’m also excited because it’s a new challenge for me, and the next step in my pursuit of being a filmmaker. If it turns out the way I see it in my head, it will definite be a great stepping stone for more film opportunities.
