Birds of Paradise Book Reading and Signing by Christine Kitano
Save the Date! Thursday, July 12 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the Historical Gallery Theatre at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai’i.
Kitano, a third-generation Japanese American, writes with an eerie, clarified composure of her family’s struggles - immigration, culture shock, internment - and of her own private struggle to understand her family and herself. Her confident, beautifully crafted poems are suggestive of a mature poet at the top of her form.
