Bleeding Cool understand that Batbooks editor Janelle Asselin has handed in her notice at DC Comics. And on learning that she was leaving for Disney, suddenly didn’t have to serve her notice any more and was escorted out of the building….
I understand she will be working at Disney Magazines. It’s possible there may be some Marvel content in there…
Earlier this month, long time Bat-editor Janelle Asselin left DC to work for Disney. Though Disney owns Marvel, it was a bit of a mystery what exactly she’d be doing, since she isn’t going to Marvel proper.
Well, Bleeding Cool is now reporting that Disney Magazines is starting it own line of comics magazines aimed at kids, and of course, using Marvel characters.
It’s unclear right now how much of the magazines will be reprints of Marvel Adventures and Super Hero Squad and how much will be new material, but either way it is an exciting project aimed at getting new, younger readers, and Janelle will get to shape their reading experience. And maybe her experience with Birds of Prey will give her some ideas for a Marvel all-girl team!
