Buildings roll through the city on railway tracks in this masterplan by Swedish architects Jagnefalt Milton for Åndalsnes in Norway.

Jagnefalt Milton’s scheme would use both existing and new railway tracks to move buildings around according to the seasons or events. For me it has some resemblance to Cedric Prices ‘Potteries Thinkbelt’ where existing rail networks were reused to creating moving communities. The modular units allow for prefabrication and easy modification.

The plan includes a moving hotel, swimming pool and concert hall. Not all of the structures in the master plan can move through the city, but a selected few have the ability to be transported by rail in accordance with seasonal and situational requirements.
