The awkward moment when two of your friends become close and you feel replaced.

Isabelle sighed, standing barefoot in the girls bathroom making faces at herself in the mirror. She really should be getting ready for the day, but what was the fun in that. Running a hand through her hair, she quickly finished up her makeup; the whole reason she had come in the first place. She made a mental note to herself to install a mirror in her room so she didn’t have to come down to this place every morning. It may be kept up and cleaned daily, but it was still pretty gross.

She gathered her things quickly, running out into and down the hall so she could get to her room without anybody seeing her in her pajamas. That would just be embarrassing. Thankfully, Isabelle made it to her room without incident and only remembered the spiders when she saw one climbing up her wall. Letting out a shriek, she tore off her pajamas and threw an outfit she had set out earlier. There was no way she was staying in that room until Gareth came and helped her out later with those… creatures.

Grabbing her bookbag before she left, Isabelle swung it over her shoulder and headed down the hall. She wasn’t really sure where she was going, but anywhere away from her dorm was the ultimate goal. Once outside, she slipped on a pair of sunglasses as the sun beat down on her. It was nice to enjoy the last few days of summer when the weather was like this.

Unsure of where else to go to, Isabelle headed to the school gates. She wasn’t planning on going out, but it was nice to just imagine what was going on out there in the rest of the world. Her Grandma was probably making cookies or something for her Grandpa, while her parents were both abroad working hard on something. Maybe they had stayed in the same hotel this time. She shook her head to get rid of the thought of her parents and leaned back against the gate, closing her eyes and letting the sun wash over her.
