You’ve got the devil in your head, baby boy, a flickering flame that nips at your jaw, invades your mouth, Bringer of Light he says, lighting a fire in your body and you don’t know whether you scream from pain or pleasure but he kisses your tears and soothes you with his whispers against your lips; thisisrealthisisrealthisisreal and maybe everything will be okay.

You’ve got the devil in your body, baby boy, the fire spreading through your limbs and you dance and dance until you collapse and then he scoops you up in his arms and flies you to the sky, because Lucifer, too, was an angel once (and angels never lose their wings) so you swirl between the stars and he breathes filthy promises in your ear

You’ve got the devil in your heart, baby boy, and there is no room for anyone else, never again; just you and me against the world, sammy he says and you look over at your brother because what about him, but he’s not real  so you sharpen your knife and taste your brothers blood and as the sheets of his bed slowly become redder and redder the morning star shines bright and purrs his approval into your skin.

You’ve got the devil in you, baby boy, when you look in the mirror he’s all you can see, and a grin spreads across your face as he laughs and laughs and laughs.
