Reality is Merely an Illusion || Harley & Andromeda (Flashback)
Arkham was full of mysteries. Andromeda hated mysteries. That was why she wanted to leave so bad.
“Will I get re-assigned again?” Andromeda asked impatiently.
“Yes, you should go to Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Maybe she would like to help you.”
The blonde took the card that was shoved in her face. She skimmed through it with a disgusted look on her face. Her name was scribbled there. Radke, Andromeda. She could only make out a few things on the card for the guy’s handwriting was terrible. It looked more like hieroglyphics rather than a human’s handwriting. Was it some sort of code that the employees were using?
It was already 2 weeks into her time in Arkham. She already detest the place immensely within 1 hour she had entered it. She hated the feeling of being sent there; it felt as if her father thought she was mad, like every other people in this Asylum. She was never like that, but her father convinced her she was. Each night, she told herself that she wasn’t crazy. She was still normal. Her father was the delirious one.
Don’t be affected by the treatment they give you here. That was her mantra. She would chant it to herself before she lie down on the cold bed. If she wasn’t affected then her father would know what waste he had done by sending her here. She had no problem watching all of the fights, though. She actually enjoyed it.
However, there is this guy called the Joker. Nobody dared talk about him. The people only said he was a very dangerous guy, that nobody should come near him. That was the only time Andromeda would agree with the people. Whoever made the loony people scared here would mean he/she were not people to trifle with. She was actually scared of this guy.
She walked towards the room assigned by the man previously. On the door hung the name she was assigned to go to. At least, the doctor she was going to was a lady. It wouldn’t be hard to talk to her. Girls have this connection, right? It should be a breeze trying to talk to this chick.
“Good luck, Andromeda,” she told herself as she began knocking on the door. “Dr. Quinzel?”
Only a Forgotten Memory
“MINHYUN-AAAAAAAAAAAH~” The mattress that the raven haired boy laid on was moving frantically below him. Like an earthquake suddenly appeared, waking himself up from his sweet dream of Alice. Minhyun furrowed his eyebrows and grabbed both ends of his pillow, pulling them on each ear to try to muffle the sound of his friend yelling and jumping at him. “Minhyun-aaaaah~ Oppa~ Don’t be like this!” his friend said, mimicking a girl’s voice, which he clearly failed on doing. “Yah! It’s barely…” Minhyun stopped his sentence to open his eyes half way to check the time. “… 10AM!…?” The boy opened his eyes and sat up quickly, pushing his friend to the floor with his hands. The boy on the floor let out a small groan, rubbing his butt from the fall. “Were you having a dream?” His friend said, looking up to him as he wiggled his eyebrows playfully. Minhyun narrowed his eyes at him. “Yes, but it isn’t what you think. Not everyone is as perverted as you.” His friend scoffed with a small smirk on his face and stood up. “Well hurry up. Umma is not going to wait forever.” “Yeah, I’ll be right there.”
Minhyun sat with his friend’s family. They were all listening to his friend tell these stories, however, Minhyun just ate and thought about his dream that was rudely interrupted.
It was just like your regular romance fairy tales, but this one was slightly different. They were both there standing in a big and colorful forest. The flowers were abnormally large, including the insects the flew and crawled around. His eyes rested on Alice, who was sitting under a large tree with a book on her hands; just like the first time they met. The raven head walked over to her and sat down, pushing away the part of her dress that laid in his spot. “What are you reading there?” He asked, his voice echoing throughout the forest. Alice looked at him and smiled. Minhyun’s heart fluttered at the mere sight of her smile. He leaned in and —
“Minhyun-ah! Are you listening?” Minhyun’s flinched at the sudden hit of reality from his friend’s voice. “Uh, what?” His friend sighed and shook his head. “Aigo~ You still act as if you two have been dating for the first time.” His friend said in annoyance and picked on his food quickly. Minhyun looked at everyone apologetically and finished his breakfast.
His friend walked over to the kitchen and slammed his hand on Minhyun’s back. “Argh!” Minhyun arched his back in pain. “So, you want to go play some Starcraft? Diablo?” His friend leaned his face near Minhyun’s and Minhyun backed away. “I don’t know. I still have to clean up the house.” The friend groaned and face palmed himself. “You can do that later! Let’s have some fun first!” He grinned, resting his chin on Minhyun’s shoulder. Minhyun wiped his hands with the kitchen towel and sighed. Before Minhyun could open his mouth, his phone began to vibrate on the counter. He reached for it and checked who it was.

sleep or lust. Your pick~
After helping Isamu with some work he had to finish for Furture Industries, the fire bender offered him a bed in the attic of the arena, so he could get away from all the work he had just finished doing since the morning. Leaving his house, the two hopped onto Maka’s motorcycle and drove down to the pro-bending arena. “We’re here Isamu.” She lightly shook the nonbender, helping him off the bike. Seeing as he was about to fall asleep on her, she put his arm on her shoulder so he didn’t fall flat on his face.
It took the bender a couple of minutes to reach the attic since most of the heir’s weight was on her. Taking him to her bed, she gently helped him onto her tiny one person bed. “There you go.” Maka got up to get some extra blankets for him, turning around to walk back she saw that he had taken off his shirt and pants, leaving him only in his boxer briefs. Stopping right in her tracks, red made it’s way back to her cheeks. “Uh, he-here are some extra blankets and pillows.” She placed them on the little table beside her bed her. If you need me, I’ll be sleeping out in the living room.” The bender turned to walk away, then felt the half asleep man grab hold of her hand. “S-stay please…” Isamu mumbled just above a whisper. Looking down at him, her cheeks stayed red. “There’s not enough room for the bo—” Suddenly she was laying down next to Isamu, as he held her tightly so she didn’t fall of the bed.
Looks like she didn’t have a choice, but the golden eyed girl didn’t mind it one bit. Taking of her jacket and shoes, she snuggled into the handsome nonbender’s chest. As soon as he wrapped her arms around her, sleep started becoming apparent in the fire bender’s eyes. Looking up at Isamu, she gave him a little kiss on the corner of his mouth before letting tiredness consume them both. “Goodnight, Isamu….”
So, this thing just happened.
Now I am just sitting here with this stupid smile on my face and I literally cannot stop.
I cannot even put into words how much it means, because it is the first time ever that I’ve managed to come this far.
I’ve been dreaming to write a book since I was eight years old. This one is just a fraction of what it could be. It is scattered, un-edited and terribly flawed and yet just because it is, because I managed to get to the bottom of it, I love it with all my heart.
The thing is, I was the first not to believe that I could make it. Countless times I’ve started projects that saw no end, never managing to finish what I set out to do, and even as I signed up for NaNoWriMo, I knew deep inside that it was going to be just another one of my failed attempts.
But guess what? IT WASN’T.
I made it. 50,000 words, in one month.
I guess I’m lucky, because at the very least, even as I doubted my writing, my choices, my scenes, my plot, I never once doubted my characters. And I never once got bored of them.
I don’t know if it’s just because I’m good at keeping a one-track-obsession for long periods of time. But I honestly think it’s just because I chose right, when I decided to give these particular characters - of all the others swimming my brain aimlessly - a chance at their own story.
So, I really, just have Gilmer, Eesil and Lara to thank.
I’ll be editing the novel as soon as I find the brain-power to do it (tomorrow, I hope, Friday at most) and I’ll be posting excerpts on my writing blog as I go on and I find things that are-not-so-terrible-after-all.
My NaNo account and synopsis (and an itsy-bitsy excerpt where Eez and Gil are basically themselves) can be found here.
