Slow Dancing In A Burning Room

John Mayer

We’re going down, and you can see it too.
We’re going down, and you know that we’re doomed.
My dear, we’re slow dancing in a burning room.

“I invented nothing new. I simply assembled the discoveries of other men behind whom were centuries of work. Had I worked fifty or ten or even five years before, I would have failed. So it is with every new thing. Progress happens when all the factors that make for it are ready, and then it is inevitable. To teach that a comparatively few men are responsible for the greatest forward steps of mankind is the worst sort of nonsense.”

—Henry Ford, quoted in Everything is a Remix Part 3

“Love is never equal. One side always loves more than the other.”

—Urban Zakapa

Ooo, Damn!

LilOne’s been acting like a right bee eye tee see aitch this evening.

LilOne got a couple of time outs by herself.

LilOne’s now getting her ass put to bed by her mother. A good hour before actual bedtime.  Mama has had it.

Moral: dont test the ‘rentals, LilOne.

Your sister learned.  You will too.

“Facebook is trying to push the idea that their version of 'frictionless sharing' is some kind of inevitable technological development about which people have no choice. "It's like resisting cars, boyo!" But the idea that technologies run these independent paths with no intermediation from humans is far from established fact.”

—Great, short, important piece by The Atlantic’s Alexis Madrigal on Why the New York Times Isn’t Using Facebook’s Frictionless Sharing

“I felt that I was in control of the future but I did not quite believe it because I realised that this feeling was due merely to the fact that the future did not yet exist, and that thus I was not crushed by its inevitability. ”

—Marcel Proust, The Captive

"There's no such thing as coincidences, only inevitability."
