Plural of index

Would it be indexes or indices?

Context:

However, this will only happen if it passes two if(){} statements. This first makes sure the difference between the indexes/indices of the inputs is equal to or less than two. The second uses the get() methods in the Card class to compare both the number & the suit.

Apparently both are acceptable, but I’d associate indices with with powers, while I wouldn’t with the word index. Indexes just doesn’t seem like a proper word.

What do you think?

Why Libdrone Keeps Changing His Index

Anyone who pays close attention to (e)LIBDRONE may have noticed that after several weeks as the CEO of the Animals Exotic index,  on Friday morning I switched to the Gay Lesbian Bisexual index.      I honestly haven’t kept my sexuality a secret since about 1984,  though I rarely talk about it much these days,  simply because I find so many other things so much more interesting to talk about.

In the first release of Walking Down The Avenue I wrote that being a CEO on Empire Avenue didn’t really matter in terms of the game and that it was mostly a vanity sort of thing.   “…if you just won’t be happy without the virtual corner office, go ahead…”  and change to a different index.     As I wrote that I was content on the Books index,  where I traded off the top four slots with a handful of other players.    Later,  as more successful authors came into the Books index,  I had a notion one day and changed my avatar to an image of a polar bear swimming and switched to the Animals, Exotic index where I became the CEO.

I found that being consistently in the top spot on that index did correspond with a major spike in my share price.    I am coming to believe that there is advantage to keeping your avatar in the top three display on some index or another.   I also am coming to understand that there is real value in changing your index from time to time.    I picked up one 200 shareholder shortly after changing to the Gay index and it seems clear that user looked at my profile Because I appeared as CFO on this unfamiliar index.

After my weekend on the Gay index I actually intend to move on to yet another index.    I am trying to be careful to only visit indices where I have a legitimate interest and connection.   But I think anyone whose share price growth has stagnated might well generate a boost by changing their index and putting their name and image in front of a completely different audience.

When multiplying and dividing indices...

You add the indices if you’re multiplying them:

7 squared x 7 cubed = 7 quintupled

You subtract the indices if you’re dividing them:

7 quintupled divided by 7 cubed = 7 squared

P.S - I would’ve chosen bigger indices and different questions but I have no idea how to write them as I can’t do the little numbers at the top XD (I hope that made sense DX)

Does anybody have a trick/poem/ song for remembering the rules of indices/ exponents?

Thank you!

It would be really helpful! :D
