Last words

 I love you

The
last words
you ever whispered
to me.

They
floated through
the air and slid past
my tear stained cheeks.
Louder than the
sobs that
shook
me.

I love you

The
last words
you ever whispered.
To me.

They
momentarily
dulled the sounds
of your agony
while you
writhed.

I love you

The
last words
I ever whispered
to you.

As I
held tight
your limp hand and
you breathed out
for the last
time.

I love you

The
last words
I whispered with
such truth.

“I believe empathy is the most essential quality of civilization.”

In memory of legendary film critic and LGBT supporter Roger Ebert. Thanks for everything.

In Memory.

Let’s pause for a snark-free moment.

As it says in the tagline, photojournalists are assholes. If you’re following this site, hopefully you realize that in actuality, photojournalists are passionate, driven people who just happen to have a lot of hang ups.

We try to steer clear of actual news here, but this is too important to be ignored. A tragedy occurred in the photojournalism world yesterday. This is a small community, and any kind of loss affects us all.

Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington were killed in Libya while they were doing what they did best, making thought-provoking photos that inspired and informed the world.

I ask that you take a moment of silence to remember Chris, Tim, and why we’re photojournalists. It’s not for gear, awards or sweet press passes. It’s for something more than that.
