Ariana, age 5: “Do you hear that disco music?”

Me: “No…”

Ariana: “Well it’s playing on my imaginary radio. I turned it to the maximum volume-24.”

If this isn't the most frustrating thing in the world then I don't know what it is.

Hokay, right, so sometimes I dream up songs. I mean literally compose whole original songs, in my dreams.

This time it was this soft, beautiful folky song, which I was playing from a CD and reading the lyrics booklet (royal blue letters on a white background, written in nocaps), and ARGH, I wish I could remember it. The singer referred to her girlfriend as “Australia” in the chorus (because in my dream it was well known she was dating an Australian), and the whole premise was sort of simply about looking in her girlfriend’s eyes first thing in my morning and feeling like life would be okay.

The first verse had something to do with waking up, having morning coffee, deciding to ‘stay’, either metaphorically or physically with her girlfriend because that’s where she felt the most peace, peace she needed to live.

All I can remember of the lyrics as I read them, and the tune:

i just said “good morning beautiful”

i love that look that australia gets in her eyes (or something like that)

“good morning beautiful”

(words of the final line of chorus totally lost to me, but I can remember the tune. something like) and i’ll stay…right by her side for all time/into the night (probably NOT the right words but they do fit the tune)

This is SO FRUSTRATING. It was such a beautiful little song! If only I could remember more of the melody and the lyrics, I could have turned it into a real song…
