“The Ego, however, is not who you really are. The ego is your self-image; it is your social mask; it is the role you are playing. Your social mask thrives on approval. It wants control, and it is sustained by power, because it lives in fear.”

—Deepak Chopra

“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly--you usually don't use it at all. It uses you. This is the disease. You believe that you are your mind. This is the delusion. The instrument has taken you over. ”

—Eckhart Tolle
  • Me: I'm a sinner, I'm unholy, I'm unworthy, I always do this so I am like this, and I'm a failure at that--
  • God: No, child. You're not those. When you accepted Christ, you were born again. You are a new creation. Your identity comes is Him, and not by what you do, what other people think, or what society dictates. You've been made new.

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”

—Oscar Wilde

Whenever someone asserts Jasmine is Arab only and ignore the desi signifiers she’s surrounded by I get really sad and also angry because a) we don’t have an official desi princess and Jasmine wears her hair similar to South Indian traditional style and has a tiger named Raja b) the bare-midriff is also a trademark of many South Asian fashions c) she also LOOKS desi as much as she does Arab d) Disney conflated desi and arab when they designed her because they’re orientalist as fuck e) plus there are desi arabs and desis who grew up in the middle-east f) like me I grew up in dubai and ppl get confused all the time here whether I’m Arab or Puerto Rican or desi so I relate to Jasmine’s “ambiguous” racial markers g) and can we just try to understand race and identity in non-arbitrary terms?
